An unusual, mystical incident took place on June 27 in the village of Sottintsy, Ust-Aldan ulus (Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) - ed.). During a thunderstorm, mini-tornadoes passed through the area and local residents saw inside them silhouettes of 20 galloping horsemen with ancient weapons. The same thing happened the next day, but this time there were only three riders.
Sasha Pavlov, a student of the 8th grade of school No. 2 in the city of Yakutsk, an eyewitness:
- My friend and I, as usual, walked around the village. At first I did not notice how thick dark clouds enveloped the sky. A strong wind rose and began to drive dust. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw an approaching tornado, inside which there were some dark figures. My friend and I took a closer look and realized that these figures have the outlines of people on horses. There were about twenty of them. They seemed to move in turn. We watched him for a while, until the tornado disappeared behind the Uygulaah Alaas store. We ran and told everything to a friend's cousin. She got very scared, and we all ran home. At home, my grandmother said that this was a sign of something bad. I myself don't know what to think.
And today at about three o'clock in the afternoon I saw such a phenomenon again. This time the tornado was small and there were two or three riders.

- I was standing near the store. The wind blew up and raised dust, everything around became brown. There were boys nearby, it was they who pointed out to me the tornado, inside which I saw two shadows. Taking a closer look, one could notice that these are people riding horses … I don't know any beliefs or predictions about this, so I don't even know how to react.

A tornado is an atmospheric vortex that occurs in thunderclouds and spreads down to the earth in the form of a trunk or cloud sleeve, up to hundreds of meters in diameter. Inside the formed cone, the air constantly rises, simultaneously rotating, therefore an area with highly rarefied air is created.
It is still very difficult to determine the speed of rotation of the air inside the funnel. According to assumptions, it can reach 1500 km / h. The funnel itself moves at an average speed of 60 km / h.
In Yakutia, fortunately, tornadoes are rare and do not possess such destructive power as, for example, in America. And on the territory of Russia, the last tornado passed through the territory near the city of Blagoveshchensk, raising cars and large trucks into the air. Prior to that, in October 2010, a tornado swept through the southern regions of the country. As a result, in the city of Sochi, he threw a large motor ship on land, in the Kuban he ran aground a river vessel.
As for the unusual sight, everyone can choose an explanation to their liking - either it is really some kind of eerie omen, or just a strange mirage, an optical phenomenon in the atmosphere. For observers, such a reflection consists in the fact that, together with a distant object (or a part of the sky), its virtual image, displaced relative to the object, is visible.
