On May 26, 1990, Marlene Warren from Wellington, Florida was at her home when she suddenly heard the doorbell ring. A man in a clown outfit appeared on the threshold, who handed the surprised hostess a lush bouquet of flowers and a bunch of balloons. Then the intruder suddenly pulled out a pistol and shot Warren in the face, after which the creepy clown quietly left. Doctors tried for many hours to save the victim's life, restoring her skull from fragments, but to no avail. Without regaining consciousness, the woman died in intensive care. The killer was never found then.
However, now the investigation has received a new turn. Florida police officers made planned rediscovery of old cases and drew attention to the fact that the late Marlene had divorced her husband, Michael Warren, shortly before her murder. After the divorce, he immediately married a certain Sheila Keene. Law enforcers, who suspected some kind of connection here, contacted Keene and took a DNA sample from her. It turned out to be consistent with hair DNA found 27 years ago at the crime scene.
Why Keane needed to kill her husband's ex-wife is not known. The woman was taken into custody and is currently awaiting trial.
