This ravine is located in the Volgograd region near the Medveditskaya ridge, the most anomalous place in Russia. The ravine is always the entry point to some of the most amazing caves in the Volga region. For a long time, the ravine was nameless, the name appeared after the discovery of the caves (it is very convenient to announce to friends that you are leaving them "for always" and return in a day).

There are legends that robbers used to gather here for a gathering, however, most likely, such gatherings in Always could not be - it appeared and began to grow already in our century.

The ravines in the Volgograd region sometimes reach tens of kilometers in length and hundreds of meters in depth. Once upon a time, of course, they fought with them, planted with forest belts, including the famous Stalin's 300-meter wide, but the number of giant earthen breaks filled up can be counted on one hand.

The best results were achieved by the fighters against the ravines in the spring of 1943, when the thawed bodies of tens of thousands of Nazis from the army of Paulus defeated at Stalingrad were brought into the ravines by carts. Now the last refuge of the invincible warriors of the Wehrmacht can be seen from afar: although the ravines were covered with corpses to the eyeballs (compared to the level of the ground), over time, the ground slightly subsided and formed something like canyons. The sharp contrast in the color of the grass, which is noticeably juicier in the "oases", is striking.

The ravine has always escaped such a terrible fate, most likely because in the 1940s it was very microscopic in size and was located further from the road. After the war, when a road was laid nearby, the road workers clearly violated the vegetation cover for hundreds of meters around, and rapid soil erosion led to an accelerated growth Always.

Starting from scratch, in just a quarter of a century, the ravine reached a depth of 20 meters and in about 1979 revealed a certain underground passage, which SSU students stumbled upon. It was said that the most daring village guys traveled five kilometers along it, no less.

A little later, just ten steps from the first cave, the second entrance appeared. They talked about other found entrances located 3-8 km from the already known ones, but both have not yet been reliably confirmed.

Already in the early 1980s, "Cosmopoisk" managed to penetrate the first left cave, the right one was by that time firmly laid with huge 2-3-meter perfectly round or pineal stones.

The origin of the stone "cones" was more than strange and suggested an analogy with artificial Peruvian stone balls. Although, judging by the huge number of stones, it is most likely to assume that only some natural force acted in the role of the sculptor.

Experts put forward several hypotheses: volcanic activity of the Earth, crystallization of silicon on the initial "seeds", an unknown chemical reaction.

But all these hypotheses are not confirmed experimentally or by other specialists. These stone "cones" simply cannot be at such a shallow depth, but they, in spite of everything, are scattered here in large numbers, constantly confusing and surprising visitors Always …
