According to the scientist, the same fate awaits drivers when unmanned vehicles appear. There are currently about 3.5 million truck drivers in the United States, with an additional 5.5 million loaders. These jobs, according to Hopcroft, will disappear, as the work of lifters once disappeared.
The scientist believes that society should now think about how soon this "revolution" will take place, what the percentage of the employed population will be, and what it will take to get a job.
