Over the past decades, millions of moviegoers, in their comments on the releases of new TV series and films, regularly note the rapid degradation and even degeneration of modern cinema. And the situation with him is really very strange.
It was very difficult and expensive to make and then sell the film in the 1970s-1980s, since the shooting equipment, costumes and props cost colossal money. For example, for filming westerns, directors had to build real full-size towns from the times of the Wild West, and for filming Star Wars, Mr. Lucas had to create a whole unit of craftsmen who sculpted toy starships flying in an aquarium or even in a glass.
With the progress of shooting technology, equipment for sound recording, with the advent and cheapening of special effects, it became cheap and easy to shoot, which, as it were, paved the way for the adaptation of millions of wonderful stories, novels and, in general, books written over a century. You don't need a hundred million dollars to shoot a movie - a few hundred thousand is enough, just go and shoot. So the world in recent years should have seen just a collapse of new excellent TV series and films on all existing and even non-existent topics. But what do we see?
We see some guys in tights and BDSM muzzles, who jump from roof to roof and save the world. Or we are shown some African American teenager who bends either the United States intelligence service, the USSR KGB, or the whole Galaxy in general. People are already accustomed to the Vikings from Africa, to the blue and pink theme, and we do not even remember this tribute to “fashion”, not to mention the stories that are written in three or four hands and high.
In the end, delirium turns out to be such that it is scary to watch even on rewind. In 2018, almost one and only film that can be watched was released - a film about the avengers and the war of infinity, where the directors collected and crumbled all this biomass in tights, which caused an unprecedented audience delight and positive reviews about the film in kamenty.
We're not the only ones noticing all this happening with Hollywood, but some people have gone a little further. In particular, an American programmer with the nickname Billfountain made a program that scanned the network for what films people are downloading, after which, dividing the films into categories, the program evaluated the popularity of stories before and after September 11, 2001. Thus, as this study shows, films about life, about war, about love, about history, and even fantasy are no longer in trend. Therefore, Hollywood should not be scolded - it just cuts the topic and removes what people like, since the producers probably have their own software, similar to the program from Mr. Billfountain.
We, of course, are people of broad outlook and therefore do not impose our views on anyone. If seven billion people really like the jumping nerds in tights who save the world from the Apocalypse, this is their choice and their right. Nevertheless, in this regard, we have only one question: is such a world worth saving at all?
