If robots take over our planet one day, then Elon Musk will probably say: "I told you so!" It turned out that the genius billionaire inventor who loves to make the impossible come true is seriously concerned about research in artificial intelligence (AI).

Musk tweeted the following last week:

“We need to be extremely careful with artificial intelligence. It is potentially much more dangerous than nuclear warheads."

After some time, the inventor continued his thoughts on this matter:

“I hope that you and I are not something like a bootloader for artificial superintelligence of the future. But, as it seems to me, everything is going exactly to this”.

These words sound rather ominous. Given that Elon Musk has a much better understanding of cutting edge technology than many of us do, it can be assumed that he knows what he is talking about. And this is not the first time that an ingenious inventor speaks negatively about artificial intelligence.

During an interview with CNBC earlier this year, Musk asked scientists to be extremely careful with the development of artificial intelligence, and also jokingly compared the possible future of humanity with the plot of the Terminator movie.

Considering that Internet giant Google has acquired Boston Dynamics, which develops the most impressive robots to date, and DeepMind, which creates artificial intelligence, it can be assumed that in the coming years we will definitely see something resembling intelligent humanoid robots.

Artificial intelligence expert Ray Kurzweil (also hired by Google), however, argues that there is no need to fear for our future. According to him, people are simply trying to improve their lives and themselves with the help of advanced AI.

“There will be no“us against machines”. We're just expanding our own capabilities by creating self-thinking mechanisms,”said Kurzweil.

From the other side, Musk is not trying to stop the development of artificial intelligence, but only asks scientists to be extremely careful. It is understandable - you should not trust an intelligent machine with the nuclear red button under any circumstances.
