Unknown midges appeared in the Western Crimea. Their bites cause severe allergies among tourists and locals
At the same time, doctors have no cure for such injuries, and traditional drugs do not help. According to Rosbalt news agency, the affected adults become covered with a painful rash with severe swelling. Bitten children develop red blisters and babies' bodies swell. Ambulances regularly bring in new patients, as a result of which the intensive care unit of the city hospital in Yevpatoria was almost full. At the same time, specialists do not have information on how to deal with the new danger.
Traditional antiseptics and anti-inflammatory drugs do not help the victims, and experts cannot yet develop a special serum, since they cannot determine the type of poisonous insects. The study of the bites did not give scientists enough information to identify the mysterious insects.
In this regard, Crimean doctors appealed to the population with an appeal "to deliver an unknown insect to the sanitary and epidemiological station to determine its species." In turn, experts-entomologists announced that no new species of insects have appeared in the region this year.
After that, a hypothesis was put forward that attacks on people are made by local midges living in estuaries, and undergoing mutations from an abnormally high temperature.
