This story happened a long time ago. When I was still in school, every summer I went to my grandparents in the village. Although my grandfather was old, in any case it seemed to me so at that time, he was full of strength and energy and worked in a rural smithy. When I had nothing to do, sometimes I came to his smithy and sat for a long time and watched my grandfather work. It was interesting for me to observe how a piece of metal literally in front of my eyes in the skillful hands of my grandfather turns into a horseshoe. In the corner of the smithy there was an iron cabinet and in it lay various pieces of metal from which the grandfather then made something. One time he asked me to give him a thin iron bar from the cabinet. I went up and took it and I see a small horseshoe on the shelf. Why she thought I was too small for a horse and asked my grandfather about her. He came up and took her in his hands and said, well, if you're wondering, then I'll tell you about this horseshoe, but only in the evening, now I have a lot of work. And at home my grandfather told me this story.

When I was seventeen years old, one healthy man worked in this smithy, he loved to drink very much and never when did anyone see him sober. His wife did not know what to do with him, how to wean him from drinking. He stopped coming home too, straight and slept in the smithy. And then one evening we were walking with the guys and went to the smithy, looked out the window, and there a man was sitting together with the devil and drinking moonshine. The man is already drunk, and the devil pours and pours everything for him. Here the man fell asleep and he went out into the street, whistled and immediately a whole group of devils came running to the smithy and let's whip moonshine and play cards. It was here that we realized who was drinking the man. The next morning I came to the peasant and asked him to take me as his student. He agreed and taught me all sorts of wisdom all day, and in the evening out of nowhere, the devil appeared. He put a bottle on the table and let the man and me get drunk. I pretend to drink, and I slowly pour everything on the floor. The man has been sleeping for a long time, but the devil himself drinks and pours everything into me and watches me when I fall asleep. Finally, he himself could not stand it, fell off the bench under the table and began to snore.

I quickly made a horseshoe and shod it into a drunken devil. But they do not like passion, for them it is considered the most terrible punishment. I sat down on the bench and waited for the devil to wake up. And in the morning he opens his eyes, jumped up and hit the floor with a horseshoe. He ran around the smithy, wants to knock down a horseshoe, but he can't do it. Yes, and in front of the devils in this form cannot be shown. He prayed that I would take off the horseshoe, and I set a condition that the devil and all his relatives would leave our village forever. As they say, shook hands and I took off his horseshoe. The devil fulfilled our agreement, gathered all his relatives and left our place forever. And the man did not drink since then. He taught me blacksmithing and I still work in the forge. This is the story my grandfather told me.
