British scientist Stephen Hawking called on humanity to start conquering other planets. “I think that the human race has no future if it does not go out into space,” the scientist noted. He outlined his thoughts in the book "How to Create a Spaceship", an excerpt from which is published by The Guardian.
According to Hawking, life on Earth is in ever-growing danger - it can be destroyed as a result of a natural disaster or a man-made disaster.
Hawking considers nuclear war and the attack of a genetically engineered virus to be the main risks for humanity. The scientist expressed a similar opinion in January 2016.
Hawking is known for his work on cosmology as well as the popularization of science. He first published an article about the possibility of black holes to evaporate. Back in his student years, when Hawking studied at Oxford University, he was diagnosed with a rare disease - amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. As a result of this disease, the scientist's muscle activity has been minimized to date.
