The Slavic alphabet today is the basis of alphabets for more than a hundred languages of the world. We are accustomed to the Cyrillic alphabet, but it still holds many mysteries.
The Old Church Slavonic alphabet can be divided into three parts: "higher", "lower" and "divine". The first of them, by the names of the drop caps, carries a certain semantic message; the second is opposite to it: the names of these letters are syllables, often unpleasant to the ear; the third part of the alphabet - the divine symbols in the middle of the alphabet - is the most mysterious of the secrets.
Sacred geometry
The outlines of Slavic letters are already fraught with a mystery. The usual letter designations, familiar to us even from the words, consist of simple geometric shapes: circles, triangles, crosses. But behind them is hidden sacred meaning - symbols of eternity, Trinity, Christ.

Cryptography
A number of scientists hypothesize that the first Slavic alphabet was a cryptography and was a complex logical-mathematical system. In addition, there is a version that the alphabet was created by Cyril and Methodius as an integral invention, and not as a creation that was formed piece by piece by adding new letter forms. Letter numbers
Letter designations were also used as numbers - and here we find new riddles in the Cyrillic alphabet. Why is Az equal to one, while Buki has no number? A series of first numbers are sequential, but the nine is at the very end of the alphabet. It cannot be assumed that such chaos is the result of chance, because Saint Cyril carefully thought out the sacred meanings of his creation. To turn a letter into a number, a special sign was placed above it - titlo, the meaning of which can be equated with a halo.

The connection between numbers and letters had their own interpretations, so in the Middle Ages they calculated the meaning of a word by adding the numerical values of letters in order to discover a new meaning in them. For example, the number of Christ is 888, this is the sum of the letters of the name Jesus in Greek. Therefore, those who turn to the Old Slavonic alphabet are struggling with the riddle of the numerical designation of its letters, looking for the cipher of the entire world order in the ancient alphabet: from the creation of the world to the Last Judgment.
Mysterious letters
Most of the letters of the Slavic alphabet are of Greek origin. But there are letters with a very mysterious genesis: for example, C and C. Scientists still cannot figure out where the creators of the Slavic alphabet borrowed them from - letters with a similar outline are in Ethiopian and Aramaic letters, but they sound completely different.
The nature of the spirit
It is believed that Hebrew, Greek and Latin embodied the nature of things. The “fathers” of the Cyrillic alphabet, Saints Cyril and Methodius, while creating a new writing system, tried to convey with the help of it the nature of the spirit.
