Be that as it may, the Sherwood Forest still attracts seekers of medieval jewelry, and some of these gray archaeologists, no, no, yes, luck smiles. Mark Thompson, an amateur archaeologist, who recently found a gold ring in the famous British forest, supposedly of the fourteenth century, became such a lucky one. In this he was helped by a modern metal detector, and, of course, persistence and belief that Robin Hood actually robbed rich Englishmen in this place.
Found a gold ring - with a sapphire. On the one hand, you can see the figure of a saint or noble lady, on the other, a naked man, presumably the young Jesus Christ. The unique find is the property of the state, so experts from the British National Museum are now working on it. They will have to determine the cost of the medieval jewelry, on the basis of which the successful amateur archaeologist will receive the reward due to him. The ring is tentatively estimated at one hundred thousand pounds, but this price can be significantly reduced, since experts are not interested in selling this jewelry, but in acquiring it by the museum at a minimal price.
