This happened on November 4, 2008 - the very day when the whole country was electing a new president in the United States. A young woman was driving her car from Northbrook. where she works in court, home in Chicago. It was about nine o'clock in the evening. The car was heading for the Chicago Expressway and was going at a speed of 65-70 km per hour on the middle lane of I-94 Lake Cook Road, when something strange happened

Here is how the owner of the car tells about it: “Being in the middle lane, I felt that my car was slightly to the right. At the same time, I felt only something like a weak nudge with my elbow. I did not leave the lane along which I was driving and quickly straightened the steering wheel, but then I slowed down - I realized that I could not see the left side mirror. Then I pulled right onto the side of the road, turned on the hazard lights, and stopped.

Coming out of the car, I was stunned: the entire left side was mangled with dents! Two of them were deeper and wider than the rest: one above the rear wheel, the other on the driver's door.

I called 911 to have the police register an emergency. The official said that most likely I was hit by another car. But I know for sure that there was not a single car, pedestrian or animal in sight on the highway around me - neither before the push, nor after. Nor were there any scratches or paint marks from other cars on my car."

In a word, it turns out that the car swerved to the right for no reason and turned out to be disfigured! The woman, of course, was shocked when she saw what her brand new Mitsubishi looks like. How so? After all, she did not notice anything that could cripple her car. And from the driver's side!

The traffic police officer, who arrived at the scene of the emergency, wrote down in the protocol that the accident happened at approximately 21 hours 19 minutes. Having investigated the scene, he could not give any adequate explanation for what happened. But he noted that the paint on the body of the car is not damaged - there is hardly even one small scratch on it. On the disfigured side of the car, no traces of paint from another car, animal hair, feathers or blood were found, in a word, absolutely no traces! But the side mirror on the driver's side was really knocked down and hung on the cable connected to it.

The police are perplexed

A female driver told the Northbrook Star newspaper that her Mitsubishi was the victim of a very strange, mysterious damage. The police, of course, immediately suspected a side impact. But this version seems unlikely when you consider that "the entire left side of the car looks scorched, but the paint is not swollen, peeled off, and not in the least damaged."

In the morning the car was inspected by Jimmy Sayos, a manager at a car repair shop near the owner's Chicago apartment.

“At first glance, this is a side impact,” he said. But since there were no scratches or traces of someone else's paint on the mutilated side of the Mutsubishi, the manager assumed that the car had been damaged by someone or something that did not have sharp edges. So it was not a collision with another vehicle! It was then that the version arose that a deer crashed into the car. Moreover, the young woman at that moment could well talk on a cell phone and simply not notice it - it was November 4, someone probably could have called her - to discuss the course of the elections or plans for the evening. For this reason, she could not see what exactly her car collided with, but only felt an external influence. "If you are driving a 4,000 pound car and bump into something that weighs 300 pounds, then that something will surely feel the impact much harder than you."- says Sayos.

SO WHAT … A DEER?

“Alas, this happens here. In northern Illinois, it is difficult to avoid a collision with a deer on the road during the November mating season,”says Marty Jones, who has been the state's chief natural resources expert for decades. Jones, of course, knows all about deer. And the fact that a sexually preoccupied male can just go crazy with passion. Colliding with the front of the car, he can knock out the protective grill and windshield, cause serious damage to the bumper, hood, headlights, even the roof and frame. And, oddly enough, the collision is not always fatal for the deer itself: often the animal survives. feeds itself and easily overtakes coyotes for many years. In 2005, there were 23,723 deer-car collisions in Illinois, resulting in 886 human injuries.and 11 deaths.

But let's think about it. If a deer hit the car, then it should, as it were, "ride" along its entire side! How else to explain such a number of dents? Moreover, the force of the blow had to be very tangible in order to twist the iron in such a way. But then how to explain the fact that no traces of blood or wool were found on the iron?

However, Marty Jones is inclined to support this particular version. “If there was a sliding blow on a tangent, then perhaps the deer did not even damage his skin. Except perhaps the place with which he knocked down the mirror - It is possible that the animal immediately disappeared and, perhaps, is still running around somewhere. It's amazing what deer can withstand! says Jones.

But if the car was going at speed, and the deer caught up with it on the left, then he could not rush so fast as to crush the side of the car along its entire length! “Look at the damage,” says Sorensen, a forum member on the Internet. -In my opinion, such dents could not be caused by a collision with an animal. The crumpled metal looks like it has been subjected to powerful heat.

The paint, however, was not charred, so I would say it was some other kind of energy."

And it must be admitted that such thoughts appeared not only in Sorensen 's mind

AUTO "POINTED" BY THE ALIENS?

Was the incident related to a UFO? Nobody knows this yet. Although spacecraft are relatively rare in Northbrook, ICROX's UFO service immediately reported the case to Researcher Sam Matrano, director of the Illinois Department of MUFON. Ufologists immediately began to ponder a plan for how to determine if the car had any signs of UFO impact. They are now planning to conduct special scientific tests.

Could, for example, magnetic or other waves emanating from UFOs cause such dents on the side of the car? Sam Matrano would also like to know. After all, the woman felt only a small shock, and the damage was really serious. “It must have been something very, very powerful,” says the paranormal expert. Matrano and his colleagues decided to interview the reading public. They posted photographs of the disfigured car, along with explanations of the female driver, on the UFO Report Center website (nuforc.org). On November 10, 2008, the same story was posted on the Forum's website via the Legend Busters TV program of the Discovery Channel. So far, discussions have yielded nothing.

And what about Matrano himself? He had heard reports of vehicle collisions with extraterrestrial objects before. In Minnesota, for example, a sheriff's deputy, whom he interviewed in 1979, described how his patrol car was destroyed. “He says a powerful ball of energy went through his windshield,” says Matrano. - He felt like he was hit with a hundred-kilogram pillow. By the way, the watch in the patrol car was 14 minutes behind.

But, according to the same Matrano, the clock in Mitsubishi did not lag behind and did not rush. So ufologists have not yet found any signs of influence on the car of something unearthly - "I'm not one of those who try to look for aliens under every rock," - said Matrano.

However, he is also intrigued. There is a deep indentation in the pillar separating the windshield from the door frame, and it seems to match the shape of the mirror. But the mirror is plastic, rubber, and the rack is thick steel. “It's as if we smashed an egg over a skillet and found that it had left a dent in it.” - he reasons.

The accident happened on Tuesday. And on Thursday evening, the ufologist went to the scene

and walked down the middle lane of Lake Cook Road, looking for the mirror fragments. He wanted confirmation that the woman had named the exact location of the incident.

When rush hour on the six-lane track was over, Matrano picked up a small triangular pad from the concrete. And he was delighted: it was from the mirror. So what? Yes, the accident was right here. But there are no less mysteries, And the disputes continue. How many people, so many opinions.
