In the middle of the second summer moon, the temple festival of the Cycle of Maitreya is held. Maitreya is the Buddha of the coming world period. This is the name in Buddhism that period of time that will come after the end of the period of "reign of our world by Buddha Shakyamuni." On the day of this holiday, a sculptural image of Maitreya is taken out of the temple, placed under a canopy on a chariot, into which, again, a sculptural image of a green horse is harnessed. The chariot, surrounded by crowds of believers, slowly makes a detour around the territory of the monastery, moving in the sun. Crowds of believers on both sides of the road move with the procession, periodically kneeling before the statue of Maitreya. One group of monks drives the chariot, others walk in front of or behind it, reciting prayers. The service lasts all day.
The Maidari holiday, or the Circulation of Maitreya, is dedicated to the expectation of the coming of the Buddha of the future period - Maitreya, which will come after the end of the period of Buddha Shakyamuni.
It will begin when the duration of the earthly life of people reaches 84 thousand years, and the world will be ruled by one person - a just Buddhist.
The holiday is celebrated on the 3rd - 5th days of the last summer month (June - July).
