Newgrange is one of the most ancient artifacts on our planet. Curious is the fact that it was built during the winter solstice.
Approximately in the 3rd - 2nd centuries BC, this interesting structure was erected. It is even older than the pyramids of Egypt and Stonehenge! Today it is generally accepted that Newgrange was used for various rituals. It was during the Neolithic period.
The existence of this artifact was not known until the 17th century. Before that, people lived on these lands who did not even know what they were walking on. When the land began to belong to one earl, while searching for stones for construction, his servants stumbled upon Newgrange. Upon learning of this, the count informed an antiquarian.
Initially, people thought it was just a cave, however, when they found a long corridor leading to the hall, this assumption was abandoned. Then the artifact was named a burial place. But then many scholars began to give arguments that proved that this was by no means a burial place. And at the end of the 20th century and in all of Brannen a book was published in which one can find evidence against this theory.
In the 60s of the last century, historians and scientists took seriously Newgrange. By the way, the local authorities did not appreciate this, however, nevertheless, the structure was completely dug up. Its height turned out to be 13 meters, a large corridor - 18 meters and a burial room, which is very similar to Stonehenge.

The scientists were surprised. It turned out that this design is very unstable, but it still stands. The walls are decorated with various patterns, and there is a bowl in the middle of the burial room.
Today, every winter solstice, a long line is lined up to look at the extraordinary beauty of this structure, because on this day, at sunrise, the whole of Newgrange is very brightly lit inside.
