"A truly catastrophic rise in ocean level will begin to occur in a few hundred years, but humanity will face the first manifestations of the flood very soon, when the ocean swallows up many coastal megacities," scientists say.
The researchers found that today's ocean temperatures are roughly the same as those observed one hundred and twenty thousand years ago. Then, if anything, the ocean level was about six to nine meters higher than at the moment.
