In the jungle of the Amazon, the Makusi Indian tribe lives. According to legends, they are the descendants of the Children of the Sun, the creators of fire and disease, who for many millennia inhabited the border area between the "outer" and "inner" Earth, protecting the latter from human invasion from the surface.
The border between the worlds is a cave, in which you need to travel for 13-15 days until you get inside the Earth. For the first three days, travelers walk with burning torches down a huge staircase, descending steps 80 cm high. At the end of the third day, they find themselves in a corridor lit by giant lanterns the size of a watermelon, bright as the sun.
After 4–5 days, travelers significantly lose weight - this allows them to move much faster. On the 5th day of the journey, they find themselves in huge caves with no ceiling visible. One of them is illuminated by four objects similar to the Sun - so bright that it is impossible to look at them.
On the 6-7th day of the journey, people can taste the gifts of the “inner earth”. There are places where oaks and fruit trees - mangoes, bananas and cashews - grow, as well as smaller plants.
As you move deeper, the amount of vegetation increases. But amid the lush forests, there are places to avoid. For example, there are smoking stones and lava flows - "azoge".
In the middle of the way, extreme care must be taken, as the mysterious underground "air" can make people "fly" or "swim".

Thus, by the end of the second week, travelers arrive at their destination. There, "on the other side of the world," giants live 3-4 meters in height. They grow apples the size of a human head and grapes the size of a fist. In their rivers, there is a very tasty large fish, which the giants caught and gave the Indians with them on the way back - as a gift to distant relatives "from the surface".
Unfortunately, one day white people appeared in the Amazon, who introduced themselves to the Indians as British explorers. They supposedly collected ancient legends and asked the elders for a long time about gold and precious stones. A few days later, they deceived the vigilance of the owners and went to one of the underground caves in search of a rich treasure.
The Indians did not manage to stop them in time. The British never returned to the surface. And the entrance to the caves has since been closed from the inside, so that even the makushi cannot get there. This is how the giants punished their relatives for default.
Many years have passed since then. Black inhabitants of South America, themselves descendants of former slaves, built their ranches on the land of the Makusi and began to shamelessly exploit the Indians, paying them pitiful pennies. Sometimes makushi work for food.
A shattered and humiliated mountain tribe wears ragged rags, lives in deep poverty and is less and less likely to observe the ancient traditions of their ancestors. Civilization took its poisonous roots into the primordial Indian soul, destroying the primary way of people who once lived in harmony with nature. Every day the tribe goes further and further from its origins. Children of the Sun lose their freedom, turning into "second class" people, forgetting who they are and where their ancestors came from.
