In January 1959, one of the police stations in New Richmond, Ohio, received an anonymous message saying that a certain monster had been seen in the river. The confused and hasty tone of the letter indicated that the writer was terrified.
An eyewitness said that while walking along the banks of the Ohio River, he noticed in its water some creature that looked like an octopus. But something seemed strange to him, so he decided to write a message to the police about this meeting.
The police decided that they were talking about another madman and did not pay attention to the letter. After a while, a bell rang at the station. The truck driver said that on the way between New Richmond and Cincinnati, he saw something incomprehensible in the waters of the Little Miami River. The driver said that he had never seen anything like it and found it difficult to accurately describe what he met.
A police car drove to the scene and examined it, but the patrolmen did not notice anything strange. Two more calls followed from local residents who noticed the monster, and the next day articles were printed in local newspapers discussing the presence of some unknown creature in the rivers of the state. And meetings with her became more and more.
At the same time, part of the street lighting in Cincinnati suddenly went out. The strong wind was blamed for that, but some of the pillars were broken in a way that no hurricane could have done.
On top of that, one of the drivers claimed that before the lights went out, he noticed a creature climbing onto the bridge from the river. It had a shape similar to a human, but it moved on two legs awkwardly and slowly. According to the descriptions, it was three times the average height of a person and much more massive.
There were other witnesses to the incident, but their descriptions of the creature were no less vague: a huge gray octopus with long tentacles, a narrow body, a bald head and dangling fat around its neck.
A lot of jokes about aliens have appeared in the press. They said that a log floating in the river was taken for a strange creature. But the number of eyewitnesses was too large, and the descriptions given by them bore striking similarities.

Due to the presence of tentacles in the creature, they began to call him the octopus man. Since everything happened in winter, we had to give up the idea that it was an ordinary octopus that would quickly freeze and die in such weather.
Not to mention the fact that he would not be able to move at high speed between cities and could in no way be larger than human sizes. Since then, this creature has not appeared again and, perhaps, will forever remain an unsolved mystery.
