It happened on February 4, 1991 in the city of Kandalaksha (Murmansk region). Young spouses Natalya and Nikolai Kravets went for an evening walk, taking a camera with them. They climbed a hillock and stopped on a path in the middle of a small forest. Choosing a place near a snow-covered pine tree, Nikolai took two pictures with Natalia as a keepsake. It was about 22:00 and during the filming, the spouses did not notice anything unusual, except that Natalya felt dizzy and after that they hurried home.
After developing the film after a while, Nikolai discovered in the second frame a strange object, directly above Natalia's head - spherical and with branches similar to tentacles. This caused great surprise and misunderstanding why there is no object in one frame, and in the second (taken after the first) the object appeared. And most importantly, it remained unclear why the object was not noticed during photography.
After some time, information about the unusual photo got on the page of the local newspaper "Kandalaksha Communist", and the story of Natalya and Nikolai became the property of the entire city, becoming a local legend.
