It is easy to assume that if ghosts settle in old houses and castles, prisons and caves, then they should definitely inhabit cemeteries. Indeed, on the old churchyards, watchmen sometimes managed to observe these phenomena.

So, for a long time, the appearance of ghosts was observed at the old Franciscan cemetery, which is located in the English city of Edinburgh. According to eyewitnesses, when dusk falls, ghosts appear among the stone tombstones. Their blurry misty silhouettes slowly float over the tombstones, causing visitors to fear natural for such a situation. Moreover, some people feel the touch of invisible hands, light blows on the back or other parts of the body. All these actions of invisible forces led to the fact that some people lost consciousness.

According to ancient records, ghosts first appeared at the Franciscan cemetery in 1858. And this happened after the rich businessman John Gray was buried there due to a mistake of doctors. And it became clear only when a close relative of the deceased who was late for the funeral reported that as a child, John had several times plunged into a long lethargic sleep, reminiscent of death.

And when, by order of a relative, the grave was dug up and the coffin was opened, a terrible picture appeared to the audience: the corpse of the deceased was in an unnaturally twisted position, and wounds from peeled skin were clearly visible on the fingers and palms of the hands. Most likely, the unfortunate man tried to scratch the boards of the coffin in order to break free.

But the story with John Gray did not end there. It turns out that during his lifetime he had a huge Great Dane named Bobby. And when Gray died, the dog for fourteen years with the onset of dusk appeared at the owner's grave and spent the night next to her.

After the Great Dane died, his ghostly figure began to appear in the cemetery. At the same time, next to Bobby, eyewitnesses almost always noticed a well-visible ghost of a man, most likely the spirit of John Gray.

It should be noted that the ghosts of John Gray and his dog are not the only ones in the cemetery. The fact is that earlier on the site of this burial there was a prison, in which many prisoners were executed. It is believed that 1200 of his political opponents were killed on the orders of King Charles II. Since that dark time, the souls of these victims have frightened cemetery visitors with sudden touches or sharp jerks.

To drive out the ghosts, a Catholic priest even performed a special ceremony in the cemetery. However, this did not have any effect on the ghosts: eyewitnesses still see the blurry silhouettes of ghosts there.

Incredible phenomena take place at a cemetery in the American city of Augusta. There, every night at 23 hours 35 minutes, the tombstone on the grave, in which the remains of the Fiuri family members rest, begins to emit a dim emerald light, which, gradually increasing, acquires a bright orange color. At the same time, a silvery glow appears around the tombstone about 5 centimeters high. And this phenomenon lasts only 5 minutes.

"This glow is similar to the fluorescence emitted by neon lamps," said physicist Mark Russet, who conducted research on this phenomenon. “We also found that the surface temperature of the gravestone rises by two degrees, and near it we recorded weak radioactivity.”

In the circle of the now tenacious representatives of the Fiuri clan, rumors circulate that Josephine, buried in the family grave in 1899, in order to become the sole heir to the property, poisoned her two siblings.

The researchers had a seemingly quite plausible version that members of the Fiuri family were exposed to radiation. But this assumption cannot explain why the glow appears at a strictly defined time and lasts for 5 minutes …

In general, it should be noted that ghosts in cemeteries are a relatively frequent phenomenon, so there is no point in talking about the numerous cases that are known to researchers of paranormal phenomena.

In our opinion, the following interesting information, which is directly related to our topic, will be of greater interest to the reader.

In 2000, an exhibition of the photographer Francisco Escor took place in Madrid. It was unusual: the author presented to the audience the pictures in which the contours of people, as if woven from fog, are clearly visible. Visitors were especially impressed by the photograph in which a man with well-defined facial features looked at his own grave. Francisco Escora was able to obtain these photographs during ten years of filming on a highly sensitive film of cemetery landscapes.

In an interview, Francisco Escora said that he began photographing cemeteries after filming the funeral of his close friend. After developing and printing, one of the photographs clearly showed two silhouettes. In one, Francisco recognized the mother of a buried friend, who had died a few years before her son, and in the other, his deceased brother, who had died in a car accident …

As for the factors that give rise to cemetery ghosts, then, according to researchers, they may be people buried alive. Probably, a person suffocating and aware of his position in the last minutes of his life experiences a monstrous psychological shock, which subsequently forms a certain astral ghost, which wanders the cemetery.
