You can read about typical tourist spots online, ask those who were vacationing on the South Shore last summer, or just call a travel agency. What's really cool is visiting places with a dark past and a slightly eerie present. And there are so many of them in the Crimea.

I can't say with pride that I managed to meet the ghost of a Scythian or an English officer who died during the Crimean War, but I've heard stories of this kind. Huge sea snakes, UFOs over the mountains and even an introduction to ghosts. There are all kinds of rumors here.

Mangup-Kale

This is a cave city near Sevastopol. It was built during the Byzantine times to protect the northern borders of the peninsula. But I will not go into history, but I will tell you about the ghost of the "Mangup boy". Archaeologists and tourists often observe his figure at the top and hear crying. They say that it is difficult to look away from him and you want to go to the cliff.

According to legend, back in 1475, the Turks attacked Mangup. The young son of Prince Alexander knew that the sultans usually held captives like him as hostages in the main palace of the Serale and forcibly converted to Islam, so he threw himself off the cliff into the abyss. Since then, the boy's ghost drives away strangers from their native land.

In October 1960, three guys went to see the ruins of the ancient city. They were not particularly lucky with the weather: it started to rain and the wind rose. They pitched a tent and were about to sleep, when suddenly a child's cry was heard from afar. As if a seven-year-old child was roaring out loud. One of the guys went to see what was going on there, but never returned to the camp. A few days later, in the village of Zalesnoe (Bakhchisarai district), local residents found a tent in which a gray-haired young man was sitting and repeating: "He cries, he cries all the time!"

In addition, in the fall of 1966, two tourists disappeared on Mangup. Both were found alive three days later. One is 4 kilometers from Mangup, near the village of Ternovka, the other is behind the village of Kuibyshevo (5.5 km from Mangup). Both do not remember and cannot explain how they ended up where they were found.

However, in recent years, children's screams have allegedly stopped. They say that this is due to a child who was born on Mangup 5 years ago. According to legend, the soul of the "Mangup" boy moved into him … Well, and tin.

Cape Meganom

The cape is located in the southeast of Crimea, between Feodosia and Sudak. And this is a truly abnormal place. Even the ancient Greeks said that there is the entrance to the kingdom of the dead. It is believed that it was on Meganom that Odysseus met the one-eyed cyclops and, through the underground caves of Kara-Dag, which are visible at low tide, descended into this very kingdom of Hades.

The promontory is also known as alien parking. Rumor has it that the Soviet military managed to shoot down a plate of aliens near him. Eyewitnesses found part of the aircraft, which consisted of uncharted metal. Unfortunately, the fragment was confiscated by KGB officers. And in general, until recently, Meganom was a closed territory for tourists.

Yeni-Sala

The Yeni-Sala cave system is located in the village of Perevalnoye and was accidentally discovered by two teenagers in 1965. They say that ancient Taurus made sacrifices in the underground passages. There, archaeologists have found many animal bones. In the center of the lower hall there was once a stalagmite with the skull of a mountain goat, unfortunately destroyed by vandals.

The guides warn that ghosts can be found in the dungeon. Locals, in turn, generally do not recommend going down there, because the creatures that live in the caves are hungry (and whisper "Come to me, my darling", stretching out their thin little hands or not).

Kara-Dag

The dormant volcano Kara-Dag is famous for the marine life that live at its foot. Herodotus mentioned the monster of the Black Sea: “the monster looked like a snake, but extremely huge, had a mane, tail, paws with claws and teeth like a shark, only huge”.

During the time of Nicholas I, real evidence of the existence of a terrible creature appeared. An expedition of scientists, directed by the emperor, found there an egg weighing 12 kg. Unfortunately, nothing is known about the further fate of the find. Apparently, someone had a good breakfast:)

Also in the book by M. Bykova “Legend for adults. Thinking about the hidden living”, the story of Maria Voloshina is mentioned that in 1921 a note was published in the local Feodosia newspaper: a huge reptile appeared in the area of the Kara-Dag mountain and a company of Red Army soldiers was sent to capture him. How this story ended, the newspapers did not report. Maximilian Voloshin sent a newspaper clipping about the "reptile" to Mikhail Bulgakov, and it formed the basis for the story "Fatal Eggs".

Eyewitnesses have observed the monster in our days, so I recommend wetting the legs in the sea carefully!

Ayu-Dag

Bear Mountain is immersed in anomalous energy with its head. With the onset of darkness, you can see mermaids there, who dance in circles, laugh and sing songs. Some tourists talk about a wild desire to run away from this place, even to jump off a cliff. Others, on the contrary, speak of places of power. At the top of Ayu-Dag there is an ancient pagan temple in the form of a labyrinth.

And here it was not without UFOs. In the 1990s, a flying saucer and three-meter-long aliens were seen over the mountain.
