This huge 11-meter mural depicting the Savior of St. Mark's Church in the British city of Coventry has been hidden from view by a brick wall for more than fifty years. And only a few days ago a unique wall painting was unfurled.

Let's clarify that the building of this English church was built in 1868, but in the seventies of the last century a hospital was located here, so one should not think that only in the Soviet Union churches were closed and used for other purposes. As a rule, spiritual people at all times tried to save the most valuable things in the “defiled” temple. In the Church of St. Mark, such a property of mankind is the magnificent fresco of Jesus Christ. And the churchmen decided to brick it up with a brick wall in order to preserve this work of art for posterity.

At present, the hospital building has been transferred to the church again, and since the temple complex has returned to its original religious purpose, it was decided to return to people the painting work of Hans Feibush - his unique fresco depicting the crucified Jesus at the time of his ascension to heaven.

The clergy believe that this picture will make a strong impression on the faithful, attract the flock to the church, but art experts and even experts in the tourism industry are sure that not only believers, but also everyone who knows a lot will be drawn to the Church of St. Mark in wall painting and understands how interesting and valuable this fresco is for art, hidden from human eyes for half a century …
