Perhaps the most mysterious place in the Pskov region is Dukhova Gora. It is located on the Opochetskaya Upland, three hundred meters from the village of Kirovo.

Everything is strange here. And the mountain itself, which looks "foreign" objects for the area, and the mysterious shafts overgrown with bushes, a couple of hundred meters nearby.

When I first came to this place, I was a little puzzled. Who came up with the idea of calling THIS a mountain?

Kurgan. But great. About fifteen meters high, and about two hundred in diameter at the base. The slopes are almost steep, the summit is flat, with a ditch along the entire diameter. It turns out that even before the war there were several smaller mounds nearby, but they have not survived to this day.

In the "Cadastre of historical monuments located on the territory of the Opochetsky district" this place is listed as follows: "The village of Kirovo, a settlement of the 2nd half of the 1st millennium AD. It is located 300 m (0.3 km) north of the village in the Litovka tract. Mount of the Holy Spirit (2 hectares) is a federal monument. Presidential Decree No. 176 dated 20.02.95."

Ancient settlement? Doubts immediately crept in. It is unlikely that people would settle in such a place. Did they defend themselves from the tigers here? Another thing is that the mountain could later be used as a small shelter. And rightly so. In the archives of Catherine II there is a decree on the foundation of a fortress on the Dukhovaya Gora. It is known that the Cossacks built a prison here, protected by a wall of logs, placed vertically, and hewn upper ends. Probably at the same time a ditch was dug around the wall.

And still, it seems incredible to me that someone could be on the mountain for a long time, and even more so live permanently, and I will tell you why.

A narrow, very steep path leads to the top, overgrown with a pine forest. Along its entire length, on one side, uncouth wooden stakes are driven in, connected by handrails made of the same rough sticks. Without them, climbing the mountain would be extremely difficult.

At the top, in a round meadow, there is a small, very beautiful chapel of the Holy Spirit, and around the grave with crosses and metal fences. This is the graveyard of the village of Kirovo. Here the dead are buried and buried right there. But my attention was attracted by the pines surrounding the churchyard. Their trunks are twisted like a giant's hand. Curved, fancifully curved pine trees resemble the "Dancing Forest" in the Kaliningrad region.

Several old pines have been cleaved at a height higher than human height, and the tops of the trees lie with their tops on the ground. Like a hurricane broke them. Inside one of the enclosures, a man of about sixty. Tidy up at the grave. We greeted him, I ask him, they say, has the hurricane passed? No, he says, every thunderstorm of lightning constantly strikes the top of the mountain, they break trees.

I notice that many grave crosses, which are welded from steel reinforcement, are twisted and twisted.

- What is it, vandals bend crosses? I ask a local resident.

- Not. They wriggle by themselves, twist, and bend to the ground.

- How so! Who saw this? Maybe someone is hooligan after all?

- Not. If I went here every day, I would notice that they are slowly, one centimeter a month, roughly twisting. Here is the place of power. A lot of mysterious things are happening.

- And what else?

- Well, in the chapel, for example, there are two lamps hanging on chains. Sometimes they start to sway by themselves towards each other. So much so that you can feel the wind from them. If you try to stop them, then they immediately begin to swing again. Stronger and stronger until it comes to the point that they almost beat each other. And then by themselves they slow down their swing and stop, hang vertically.

I begin carefully photographing broken trees and curved crosses. The chapel. And suddenly … The camera with a fully charged battery "meows" turns off. I was warned about this before traveling and I put in a spare battery. As soon as I manage to shoot the chapel from the inside, she “dies” too. Noticing this, the peasant complains: - “Don't be surprised. No equipment works here at all. Many tourists here have their phones, cameras and camcorders completely burnt out. And the needle of a conventional magnetic compass rotates wildly, now in one direction, then in the other.

The sensations here are not very pleasant. I feel that the hairs on my arms stand on end, as if they were rubbed over them with an inflated balloon. Electricity permeates the atmosphere. That and look, sparks will begin to slip between the fingers.

In general, I was ready for something like that even before the trip. But upon returning home, the strange events did not stop. By the way, I was twice on the mountain, and twice, on the way back to the house, I got into a car accident. In addition, after the second trip, as soon as I downloaded the photos from the camera to the computer, the hard drive burned out. Together with many stunning photos from the Dukhovaya Mountain, all the results of my expeditions accumulated over three years have been irretrievably lost. Together with them, all family photographs were "burned".

Therefore, for the third time, I will definitely not go to this place. I will only tell you about what they gossip about this "place of power".

They say that at the top, when that stood the statue of Perun, the main deity of the pagan Slavs. After the Baptism of Russia took place, the idol was thrown down, and a stone cross was made from its statue, which was erected in the same place. It is believed that it existed until the era of the reign of Ivan the Terrible, and after that, allegedly, went underground.

There is evidence that Tsar Ivan the Terrible, before his death, issued a decree on the compilation of a list of holy places, which included the Spiritual Mountain. Thus, already at the end of the 16th century, this mountain was already known among other holy places in Russia and, just like today, was a place of pilgrimage for many believers.

Every year, on the day after the feast day of the Trinity, many pilgrims come here and a divine service is held on the mountain. On the holiday itself, a procession is held from the Intercession Church in Opochka to the chapel of the Holy Spirit. There is also a festive service and a water-blessing prayer service.

The stories of many of the pilgrims testify to the healing power of this place. The Orthodox believe that the Holy Spirit dwells in the chapel. It is believed that by washing the floor in it, the suffering ones receive healing from their illnesses. To prove this, there is always a bucket and a rag in the chapel, and the floor is always cleaned.

But even on weekdays it is never deserted here. Many tourists and pilgrims come to Dukhovaya Gora even from Siberia and the Far East. Therefore, all year round you can see cars and a tent city at the foot of the hill.

Local residents willingly communicate with newcomers, and conduct a kind of "educational program": -

“You also need to get up in the mood, to make yourself believe. And ask the Almighty forces in silence, without expressing words, healing from ailments. Before entering the chapel, you must remove all metal from yourself. And upon entering, turn your palms up and walk around the chapel in search of a place where you will feel a tingling sensation in your hands.

Then there will be a feeling of warmth, turning into fever, weakness throughout the body. Those who are very susceptible may pass out. There were cases - some fell. But there is nothing wrong with that. They wake up and say: “How good I feel. How easy. Psychics come here.

Several years ago we arrived in a whole group, but they don't know the way to the chapel. They asked to see him off The son went and returned very surprised. He says how they climbed to the chapel, several of them fell at once. And we had one local healer, so he came here on foot and lay down on the mountain - it seemed like he was gaining strength”.

But not only "savages" come here. Several scientific expeditions conducted research here at different times. The latter was organized by the Pskov society "Mir", engaged in the study of anomalous phenomena. She was able to confirm the fact that an anomalous zone actually exists in the area of the Dukhovaya Mountain.

“As the president of the society Viktor Bobrov said, he and his comrades discovered extraordinary energetic properties near the mountain. “The framework that we used showed that on the top of the mountain there are, as it were, in a parallel mode, two energy flows - one ascending and the other descending - and so strong that they literally turned 180 degrees,” explained Viktor Fedorovich.

The mysterious phenomenon was also recorded by the film crew of one of the central TV channels, which took part in the expedition. However, according to Bobrov, the lack of equipment made it impossible to accurately establish the nature of energy flows.

Local residents willingly talk about the special magnetism of the Dukhovaya Mountain. They assure that, after standing here, you can be so charged with positive energy that a person will feel "like after a steam room", or, on the contrary, feel a strong breakdown. “Much also depends on the moral nature of a person,” Bobrov believes, “if you come there with pure thoughts, you will receive help, and sometimes healing from diseases. But if you have an evil heart, you can be punished!"

“According to preliminary data, we are dealing with the so-called infrasonic radiation,” the researcher continues. - Entering into a resonant state with the human body, it has a certain effect on it, as a result of which an unconscious feeling of horror can develop. People who find themselves in the Bermuda Triangle face approximately the same. Unmotivated fear more than once led to the ship's crew hastily abandoned it. When the ship was found completely empty, they wondered: why, then, there was still hot coffee in the cockpits? Apparently, Dukhova Gora has similar properties, which we intend to check."

It is also interesting that similar "chronomirages" were noted in two other anomalous zones known in the North-West - in the Myasny Bor region in the Novgorod region and in the Nikandrova desert in the Pskov region. To understand what happens to a person when he gets there is the main task that researchers set themselves. " (Source…)

The little man with whom I had a chance to communicate on the Dukhovaya Gora told a curious story: - He says that in the seventies of the last century, two brothers lived in Kirov. Once they returned from a hunt, which did not work out for them that day, but in their hearts they shot at the chapel with shot cartridges. A few days later, one of the brothers died suddenly and the other disappeared. His body was found many kilometers from his home, in a deep forest near the village of Barabany. The most terrible thing was that the body was hung on the very top of a tall pine tree, where not everyone is capable of climbing.

Other people talk about another resident of Kirovo, who cut down a Christmas tree on the top of the mountain for the New Year, and a few days later lost his leg as a result of an accident.

They also say that a countless horde of mice lives in the chapel, but for some reason they never touch Easter cakes, eggs and other food left by parishioners for lighting.

Some generally consider the Spiritual Mountain as a base, or a beacon for aliens from other worlds. They say the following: - “People have seen newcomers. They get up early, near the chapel - there is always a big ball, and in this ball there is a man. It's beautiful, the sun is big, and there is a man there. Residents of Kirovo do not confirm or deny these stories, however, they say that many of them saw flashes of blue color among the pines at night, not grief in the dark.

Of course, all unusual places are overgrown over time with many myths and legends. And it is extremely difficult to figure out what is true and what is fiction. One thing is certain: - this place has a truly gigantic energy. And if it gave you a sign that it does not want to let you in, as is the case with me, it is better not to tempt fate, and stay away from it.

Conclusion: "Pskov underground. Part 9".
