According to the Associated Press, an unusual incident occurred in Modesto, California. A family of local residents was in the house when people suddenly felt a strong shaking and heard a sound like a bomb explosion.

Having run into the garage, they saw a large hole in its roof, and on the floor there were fragments of ice. As it turned out, a piece of ice the size of a basketball fell from the sky onto the house. There were no casualties in the incident.

Commenting on the incident, meteorologist Jim Matthews of the National Weather Service in Sacramento categorically rejected the possibility of the natural origin of the crashed car. On that day, no meteorological phenomena were observed in the area of the falling piece of ice.

Experts who studied the ice fragments also said that it could not have been waste from the plane's toilet, since blue chemicals are added when flushing.

According to Matthews, the plane was to blame for the incident. More precisely, the water formed in the air during the combustion of aviation fuel - it is it that we see in the form of a white tail stretching across the sky behind the plane. Steam condensate, according to the meteorologist, could take the form of an ice block.

The speed of the fall was high enough to prevent the ice from melting.

Experts who studied the ice fragments also said that it could not have been waste from the plane's toilet, since blue chemicals were added during flushing, and the ice that fell was clean.

Meanwhile, the US Federal Aviation Administration said that it was too early to draw any conclusions about the causes of the incident. We add that this is not the first case of falling pieces of ice from the sky in California. A similar incident occurred in the state in 2006 - and never received an official explanation.
