Sibylla and Gerhard are a German married couple, he is a high-ranking official in the administration of one of the German states, she is a gynecologist at a university clinic. Both are well-educated, mature people with clear ideas about the realities of our time. However, after last year's summer vacation in Austria, their views of the world around them were largely shaken.
What happened to them in Carinthia still does not find any reasonable explanation for them. Only recently did Sibylla and Gerhard decide to tell about everything to familiar journalists.
It is not the first year that they have spent their holidays in the mountainous terrain at the foot of the Austrian Alps. Having rented a small house, they drive their car around the picturesque surroundings that have already become familiar. So it was on that July day that he remembered. Gerhard drove the car first along the shore of the lake, then turned down the road leading into the mountains. It was a sunny, cloudless day.
Suddenly a large red spot of light appeared a short distance ahead of the car.
It seemed to move at the same speed as the car. The mountainous road was rife with turns, ups and downs, which the slick followed all the time. But miracles were just beginning.
When Gerhard glanced at the side window, he saw that a light ball with a bluish tint was also moving behind the car. The couple also noticed that the road, usually filled with cars at the peak of the tourist season, was completely deserted this time. They felt a kind of inexplicable anxiety, moving alone under the escort of red and blue balloons.
"Will our adventures end there?" Sibylla asked her husband when they arrived home. Gerhard did not answer right away, but then said: "Pay attention that we drove up to the house from a completely different direction than usual." He suspected that in reality they could not pass the section of the road, the memory of which they retained. In addition, the trip lasted an hour longer than usual.
Of course, memory can mislead a person, after all, one can get lost on the way. But Gerhard - an exceptionally sane and accurate person - decided the next morning to look into the situation. To check the doubts that arose, he set off on a journey along yesterday's route. He tried five times to drive through the area that he believed they had visited. However, the whole landscape turned out to be completely different - familiar from previous trips, lively, not to mention the absence of colored balls. The road that they traveled on that memorable day was impossible to find.

The study of maps of this area, or surveys of old-timers, did not help either. During a mysterious trip, the couple saw a mountain stream with crystal water, across which a wooden bridge was thrown, and a water mill stood nearby. They saw none of this again. The above descriptions of the area were unfamiliar to the locals. The couple remembered that everything they saw then seemed to be something commonplace, did not arouse much interest. It was only when they returned home that they felt the absurdity of their adventure.
Such incidents, when people remember any area that is far from real, ufologists associate with encounters with UFOs of the third and fourth types. The existing contact with extraterrestrial intelligence is supplanted in this case by a substitute purely external memory. Sibylla and Gerhard, during their virtual trip, could be temporarily transported to a parallel reality. One thing is clear - their perception was in a modified state. The road they passed last July does not exist in reality.
