The giant planet of our solar system, Jupiter, has long been considered the protector of the Earth. According to astronomers, Jupiter takes on the impacts of comets and asteroids that fly "to visit us", since it has a huge mass, therefore, the same attractive force. However, space explorers have recently changed their minds.
Of course, Jupiter attracts cosmic bodies to itself, this is more than eloquently evidenced by the absorption by it twenty years ago of a huge comet called "Shoemakers - Levi 9", which, according to scientists, posed a serious danger to our planet. Yet researchers, notably NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, have concluded that Jupiter plays a dual role. On the one hand, this is our savior, and on the other, he himself attracts cosmic bodies into the solar system, creating a considerable threat to the Earth.
Scientists simulated on a computer how everything actually happens, "launching" more than thirty thousand meteorites and asteroids near the giant (simulator of the solar system), after which they came to the conclusion that Jupiter, throughout its entire existence, not only diverted, but also specifically directed to Earth, space objects, thereby participating in ancient times in the formation of our planet. All these gifts from Jupiter (by the way, and Saturn too) not only increased the mass of the Earth, but also supplied it with the necessary "building materials" for the formation of water, atmosphere and so on here.
Fantastic hypothesis supported by Jupiter
It turns out that in the relationship of the planets of the solar system, not everything is as chaotic and random as it seemed to us before. Note that some astronomers have long expressed the fantastic idea that our solar system is generally created artificially. They came to this opinion because it is not typically built. For example, all star systems in the Universe are built according to the principle - the further the planet is, the smaller it is. And only in our solar system everything is the other way around, the giants, as if on purpose, are removed from the Sun, performing first the role of builders, and then (now) and a shield for the planets on which there is intelligent life (presumably, it also exists on Mars).

And although NASA researchers made a sensational statement about the second role of Jupiter and Saturn, it remains a mystery why these planets at one time stopped "construction" and were mainly engaged in "protection".
