One of the most popular topics after dieting, men, shopping and chronic diseases among women aged 18 to 80 is the topic of "prophetic dreams." Some ladies are sure that they see prophetic dreams with frightening frequency, others are sure that there are no prophetic dreams, and still others suspect signs of mental illness, which are so clearly traced in their “prophetic dreams”. So what are these, prophetic dreams? Let us turn to specialists with this question.

Specialists studying dreams, depending on their own beliefs and preferences, express the following thoughts on this matter.

1. Prophetic dreams happen

Probably, at least once in our life, the dream that we dreamed subsequently found its embodiment in real life. It happens that a good acquaintance is dreaming, whom they have not even remembered for several years, and now after a couple of days you accidentally meet him on the street. Or a stranger is dreaming of a man who in a few years becomes your husband, and you remember this prophetic dream. Or you see an accident on the road in a dream, and then this episode pops up in your memory, and you, for example, turn off the intended path in a similar situation on the road, and thereby avoid the accident "from sleep".

One way or another, experts who believe in prophetic dreams claim that they can happen a couple of times in the life of each of us. If you believe the theory built by scientists, then prophetic dreams arise only at moments of extreme importance, when the internal reserves of the body, in particular the subconscious "I", are trying to convey to us the most important information, on which literally our entire future life depends.

Prophetic dreams cannot be "ordered", "called in advance," or the plot cannot be corrected in some way during sleep. Those people who believe in guardian angels may believe that it is he who sends them prophetic dreams. Those people who do not believe in the supernatural can stop digging into the truth and simply accept the fact that prophetic dreams are possible. But not more than a few times in our entire long (if we are lucky) life.

2. There are no prophetic dreams

Psychologists are sure that everything that we dream is nothing more than a reflection of the surrounding reality, superimposed on our experiences, dreams and doubts. That everything that we absorb into ourselves like a sponge during the day is subsequently reflected in dreams.

The most interesting thing is that most often those plots are dreamed about, in reality, it was our subconsciousness that paid close attention to. For example, a familiar trip on the subway, during which you accidentally overheard a conversation between two girls about the upcoming trip to the cinema, did not find a lively response in your mind. But the T-shirt on one of the girls was with the same print that your ex was wearing. And already tonight I have a dream in which the ex-boyfriend plays the main role. This is not a prophetic dream, these are echoes of our unspoken desires and hidden grievances.

3. Prophetic dreams are a sign of mental illness

In general, ideally, the psyche of a healthy person is "sharpened" so that the stronger the mental health, the less often dreams are dreamed and the less vivid and colorful they are. In a person without tangible mental or neurological problems, dreams should be rare, not memorable, not colorful, and, naturally, without sounds and smells. Experts are sure that if you often have vivid, colorful dreams, pictures, then this is a sign of severe emotional fatigue. If you have nightmares, chases, falls, horrors, this is a sign of a neurotic disorder. If in a dream you smell vividly, recognize tactile sensations (sand, skin, cold stone, grass, etc.), then it's time to make an appointment with a good psychologist. If you have "sound" dreams with bright colors and surrealistic subjects - to a psychotherapist. If in a dream voices tell you what to do,and what not to do if you really cannot understand where the dream is, and where the reality is, it's time to see a psychiatrist.

4. "No" dreams

But it turns out that there are situations when dreams do not carry any meaning at all. They are not prophetic and are not echoes of our subconscious mind to the existing reality, they do not talk about psychological problems. These dreams do not mean anything at all and they arise in the following cases:

- during illness. During illness, and especially during a period of increased body temperature, everything that we dream about is just delirium. To forget and not to remember;

- after drinking alcohol;

- when using strong drugs or narcotic substances;

- in case of severe fatigue or during severe stress;

- in case of poisoning, than either.

And, probably, the most important "discovery" that will disappoint many fans of the mysterious and mystical is that "Dream Interpretations" is just a book that has nothing to do with predictions. If you want, then all kinds of "Dream Interpretations" are just a well-advertised invention, rewritten and diluted by the next author's own imagination hundreds of thousands of times.

5. Travel theory

There is another theory, according to which dreams do not exist at all as a given, and what we take for a dream is nothing more than reality, but arising in the process of our soul's journey through parallel worlds. And what we take for the most ordinary dream is real life, but lived for some time in a different dimension. If we consider our dreams from this point of view, it becomes clear why we sometimes see “prophetic” dreams, ie the reality of another dimension simply coincided with the frequency of our world. But since the percentage of such a coincidence is negligible, then we see prophetic dreams really extremely rarely.
