On the coast of the Sea of Japan, within the boundaries of Vladivostok, archaeologists discovered two stone structures, it is not known by whom and when they were built. Perhaps the stone structure on the top of the hill overlooking the Ussuri Bay served as a beacon for the ancient inhabitants of Primorye.
The first object turned out to be a stone ring 6 meters in diameter, the second - masonry with a rectangular section of 1 x 2 meters with a wall height of about half a meter. Traces of fire were found inside the rectangular structure. The ring is located not far from the coast, and the parallelepiped is at the top of a hill, from where a view of the Ussuri Bay opens up, so historians have assumed that the building was once a lighthouse.
A stone ax was discovered near the ring, typical of the Yanovsk archaeological culture, whose representatives inhabited Primorye in the first millennium BC. A fragment of an iron ax was discovered nearby, which is another find characteristic of the Yanovo sites. However, it is impossible to date the monument itself based on these findings; historians note that the stones could have been laid both by representatives of the Janowska culture and in the 19th century.
Similar mysterious structures are found along the entire coast of the Peter the Great Gulf, says Alexander Krupyanko, head of the Russian-Korean laboratory “Bohai Center for Archaeological Research”. Stonework and mounds can be found from the Chinese border to Nakhodka. So far, historians can neither date nor explain these findings.
