The fate of Karl Kraft is a clear confirmation of the well-known truth: there is no prophet in his own country. The astrologer accurately predicted the assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler, and met his death in the Buchenwald concentration camp.
The paradox is that Kraft was an ardent supporter of National Socialism, and Hitler idolized. The economic consultant used precise mathematical calculations in his calculations, but took the details of the method with him to his grave.

Behind bars, Kraft showed signs of exhaustion of the nervous system, in the fall of 1942 he was declared disabled, and in the spring of the following year he fell ill with typhus. Karl Ernst Kraft was born on May 10, 1900 in the family of a small employee in the city of Basel. He became interested in astrology in childhood - this was largely facilitated by his mother, who was fond of mysticism and was in an esoteric circle. While studying at the university, Karl really discovered astrology. In the early 1920s he joined the statistical office, and all his free time was engaged in astrostatistical research.
In the 1930s, fascism reared its head in Germany, and in the person of Kraft he found an ardent admirer. Inspired by the idea of "Greater Germany", he moved with his wife from Switzerland to Germany in 1937. The stars showed: this move will be a turning point in his life. Kraft turned to the famous Radiobiological Institute. This institution housed the department of astrology and mystical research - just what you need! Kraft was hired there, and he became friends with the young explorer Louis de Vole. Their views on astrology largely coincided, which cannot be said about their views on National Socialism. De Volle was a romantic democrat.
Kraft believed in a strong personality at the helm of the state. He kept repeating: the dictatorship of National Socialism is an ideal socio-political system.
On the wave of success
Kraft's passion for National Socialism led him to the deification of the fascist bosses. When, during the war, he was arrested on suspicion of espionage, he was accused of betraying de Volya one of the most "terrible" secrets of the Third Reich - the exact time and place of birth of the Fuhrer. But in the mid-1930s, this information was no secret to anyone, the date of birth of Adolf Hitler was known not only in London, but also in Moscow (our archives still keep Hitler's horoscopes compiled by Soviet astrologers long before the start of the war).
Karl Kraft also composed his horoscopes for Hitler and his clique. Hitler's special services became interested in his person and asked - already officially - to draw up a horoscope for the Fuhrer. In the summer of 1939, Kraft plotted the Fuehrer's horoscope for the fall and saw the dangerous period of November 7-10.
He did not make a secret out of this and said where to. But in the Third Reich, bureaucracy reigned, and the astrologer's letter was delayed in some instances. The result is an assassination attempt in the Munich beer pub "Burgerbrau". However, the Fuhrer managed to leave the pub just fifteen minutes before the explosion. It saved his life. Then they remembered Kraft, and Hitler personally met with him.
True, there is a version that there was no assassination attempt. Seeking location Himmler himself organized the assassination attempt, then he himself brought the Fuhrer out of the pub and earned authority. But after this incident, the career of Karl Ernst Kraft quickly flooded up the hill.
Interpreter of quatrains
At the same time, the Minister of Propaganda of the Third Reich, Joseph Goebbels, was busy developing a plan for a propaganda campaign against France and England who had entered the war. His wife Magda offered him a book by a certain Kritzinger "Mysteries of the Sun and Soul" with the predictions of Nostradamus. Goebbels did not understand why he needed this "rubbish", and Magda replied: Nostradamus is believed by the French. Goebbels read the book and noticed that a number of quatrains can be interpreted in favor of Germany and the destruction of her enemies. He needed the help of specialists in this area. The choice fell on Kraft. He was required to interpret the quatrains in such a way that their interpretation would panic the ranks of the enemies.
Kraft couldn't refuse. This episode was recalled by the head of German intelligence Walter Schellenberg: “An example of how we were able to direct the flow of refugees in the right direction for us in Northern France, and a little later in the Paris area, is a nondescript-looking brochure we made, containing gloomy divinations of the medieval astrologer Nostradamus … This brochure was distributed to the French population through our agents on the radio and dropped from airplanes. We have selected those quotes in which Nostradamus predicted the appearance of "machines that spew smoke and fire", which will fly with a crash over cities, bringing terror and destruction to people. On our own behalf, we added a "prophecy" that only the south and southeast of France will be saved from these disasters. After that, the panic-stricken masses of refugees moved in the direction we suggested. Thus, the German troops received the desired freedom of movement, while the communications of the French army were paralyzed."
The error came out
The brochure with the "quatrains of Nostradamus" fell into the hands of de Will, who at that time was living in England. He quickly brought Kraft to clean water and himself turned to British intelligence with a proposal to wage an "astrological war" with the Germans. The British, together with de Wol, developed an operation: to anticipate the actions of the German bosses and to act the other way around. De Volu, like no one else, knew what kind of calculations Kraft was using, which meant that the expectations of the Germans were easy to predict.
At this time, Kraft settled in a luxurious villa in Switzerland and from there he sent his "warnings" to the Fuehrer. When a request came from Berlin to determine the location of a possible landing of the Allies in Europe, he, taking into account only the astro maps of the leaders of the warring powers, named Greece. And he was not far from the truth. Churchill was afraid of the Russian advance too quickly and, having landed in the Balkans, he intended to protect Eastern Europe from the communists. But no matter how hard it was for Churchill, he listened to the advice of his special services and postponed the landing of troops to North Africa and Sicily. The Germans did not expect this. The enraged Hitler ordered the would-be astrologer to be thrown into a concentration camp.
Dead enemy is a good enemy
Not only Kraft suffered, but also other astrologers who supplied the fascist elite with forecasts. True, Louis de Volle was out of work. At the end of 1943, on the pages of one of the English magazines, he predicted the landing of the allied forces in Normandy with an accuracy of the day, after which he was placed under house arrest. He was officially banned from doing astrological forecasts.
After the war, Kraft's former rival and friend, de Wohl, tried to track down the unfortunate astrologer. Attempts have come to nothing. Then the astrologer chose the only path that he knew: made a natal chart. The horoscope gave a disappointing answer: Kraft is dead.
Louis de Volle has succeeded in perpetuating his name. He penned articles about him, he gave lectures, contributed to the republishing of Kraft's works on statistical methods in astrology. When someone asked de Volya why such a talented astrologer Kraft was so mistaken, he said: “His main mistake is not that, but that he agreed to serve the devil … Unhappy man, he did not understand that astrology did not suffers when it is tweaked to please the powers that be."
