The "mysterious forest" in western Romania Hoya Bachiu, located near the city of Cluj, over the past few years has eclipsed the popularity of the legend of the "famous vampire Dracula", which was considered a kind of brand not only for Transylvania, but for the whole country.

In this forest, according to rumors, strange things are happening: people have been disappearing for almost 100 years, Romanian and foreign tourists wander here for several days, losing their routes, there is a strange glow and even a UFO landing. Local residents are afraid to approach it, considering it "the Romanian Bermuda Triangle."

The "strange forest" with an area of 250 hectares became known in 1968, but the locals have known about its existence since ancient times. It got its name after the disappearance of the shepherd Bachiu with a flock of 200 sheep. His name is translated from Romanian means "shepherd". Then volunteers were looking for the peasant for several days, stretching out in a chain. They went all the way through the forest and even further, but found no trace. However, at the same time it was possible to photograph a strange aircraft hovering over the forest, which from time to time changed its brightness, then rose high into the sky and disappeared.

Those who came here alone, picking mushrooms or berries, complained of pain, dizziness, sudden burns, scratches, anxiety and other unusual sensations. According to the legends of local residents, once lost 5-year-old boy soon left the forest, but he was already … 10 years old. Another incident happened to a woman who, leaving the forest, could not remember who she was and how many years ago she came here.

At the same time, many saw in the more often luminous circles that do not emit heat, and some indicate the landing of "luminous balls or unidentified flying objects." This was recently confirmed by one of the high-ranking former Romanian military personnel, who was involved in the "UFO problem" at the general staff of the country's armed forces.

In Hoya Bachiu strange twisted trees grow, which, according to experts, have been exposed to radiation of an unknown nature for many years. A number of Romanian and foreign experts hypothesize that the territory of the forest, in the center of which there is a fairly large clearing in the shape of a human heart, is a kind of portal for the transition to other dimensions, but no one has yet confirmed this.

The British broadcasting corporation BBC and the American travel business magazine Travel and Leisure suddenly began to advertise the "Romanian forest" in the world, which lure here, not without the permission of the Romanian authorities, numerous foreign tourists. The number of people wishing to see the "anomalous zone" in Bachiu is constantly growing. Many go to Romania in order to see something unusual, to get to know something anomalous, to look closely at the alien ships supposedly landing here and even to photograph them.

The famous American actor Nicolas Cage (nephew of the famous director Francis Coppola), who loves to appear in various kinds of fantastic adventure films, during his stay in Romania could not resist and visited this forest, and, according to Romanian media reports, he did not see anything mysterious there.

Perhaps there is something mystical in the forest, but not that much. Several years ago, the Romanian government adopted a plan to attract foreign tourists to the country. But it turned out that the Black Sea resorts are not of interest to them because of the high prices and low quality of services, in comparison, for example, with Bulgaria.

The brand of "vampire Dracula", invented by the Irish writer Bram Stoker, has nothing to do with the ruler (prince) of Romania Vlad III Tepes Dracula and began to lose popularity - visitors are invited to visit the half-empty Bran castle near the city of Brasov, where the prince was only a few days. And the real fortress, built by him in the 16th century, 170 kilometers from Bucharest, has been in ruins for over 100 years, and no one is going to restore it yet. Tourists are told beautiful stories about the "vampire", which are included in tourist brochures and guidebooks.

In 1996, the plan to create "Dracula-Land" in Romania, where all evil spirits would be represented: vampires, ghouls, witches, failed. However, the government did not have the funds for this, and private investors did not want to invest their money in it. How else to attract foreign tourists to the country who pay in foreign currency? This is where the “mysterious forest” with mysticism, UFOs, time portals and other anomalies was born.
