A terrible incident took place in the Nepalese village of Kudiya in the southwest of the country. Local resident Kodai Harijan cut off the head of 10-year-old Jivan Kohara to save his sick son. A village sorcerer ordered the boy to be sacrificed to a man, CNN reports.

On the advice of a local magician, Kodai Harijan trapped 10-year-old Jivan Kohar while he was playing in the town square, and lured the boy to a temple on the outskirts of the village. The perpetrator promised the child 50 rupees (approximately 49 US cents) and a cookie.

The man took Jivan into a dimly lit room and chopped off his victim's head. The ritual murder took place in the presence of a sorcerer.

The parents of the missing child went to the police. Kodai Harijan was quickly found. It turned out that the man had more than five accomplices, not counting the sorcerer. Almost all of them admitted their guilt.

Criminals face life imprisonment. About the condition of the son of Harijan, for the sake of whom the man decided to murder, nothing is known. Local authorities have promised to launch a propaganda campaign against the spread of superstition and black magic.

Similar problems are experienced by the inhabitants of India, where they are still lynching "witches"

A week ago, a tragedy occurred in a village in the Indian state of Assam. A group of nine people decapitated 63-year-old Purni Orang, accusing her of witchcraft. According to the criminals, the woman by her actions sent damage to the inhabitants of the village.

According to the detainees, recently, many Assam residents have died as a result of some kind of epidemic that covered the village. What exactly happened to the unfortunates is not specified. Seven people were arrested on suspicion of killing an elderly woman, including two women.

Unfortunately, this is far from the first case of lynching the villagers are organizing against "witches". Since 2009, nearly 90 people have been beaten to death, burned and beheaded in the village.

Local officials shrug their shoulders - the propaganda of the Indian authorities urging their fellow citizens to stop believing in black magic does not work. In 2013, 119 people were killed in a witch hunt. In May, a resident of Papua New Guinea was recognized as a witch and torn to pieces.
