A 92-year-old Chilean woman consulted doctors because of severe pain in her arm, which began after an unsuccessful fall.

After conducting a complete examination of an elderly patient, the experts made a very unexpected discovery: in the womb of the pensioner there was a fetus weighing two kilograms, the gestation period of which was about 30 weeks. At the same time, the child was conceived at least 50 years ago.

According to the local newspaper La Tercera, the woman did not know about her “interesting” situation. The doctors explained that she had had an ectopic pregnancy and that the embryo was attached to the abdominal cavity. As a result, instead of pregnancy symptoms, the woman felt a swelling in the lower abdomen. At the 30th week of development, the fetus died and was mummified and all these years did not cause any inconvenience to the mother.

The doctors decided not to intervene in the situation, since the removal of the fetus could negatively affect the health of the elderly patient.

- It is very likely that the fetus has grown together with some parts of the abdominal cavity, - said the attending physician of the pensioner.
