More recently, on the US Geological Survey website, the Yellowstone Research Institution has published reported volcanic activity in the area. Based on the information received, it became known that the level of warning in this area is normal and stable. Aviation color code is green.
In May 2016, seismographers at the Science University of the South counted over 70 tremors seen near Yellowstone Park. One of the strongest and most dangerous earthquakes (2.5) was on May 27 at 2 pm local time.
The central point of the earthquake is 11 kilometers from West Yellowstone. Geologists report: "There were no regular tremors in May, and the seismic activity was low relative to the previous months."
The unevenness of the surface, which was recorded by Norris GPS (NRWY) since the beginning of this year, continues to this day and moves at a speed of five centimeters a year. Land changes near Norris station are similar to those in late 2013 and early 2014. To date, the land uplift rates are half of those previously seen in this area.
