According to cardiologist William Davis, who wrote a book about the world's most popular grain, modern wheat is "the perfect chronic poison."

Davis says the wheat we eat now is not the same wheat from our grandmothers' days: “This is a tall 18-inch plant created by genetic research in the 60s and 70s of the last century,” Davis tells CBS This Morning.

“This thing has a lot of things that no one tells you about. For example, it contains a new protein called gliadin. It is not gluten (gluten). I'm not speaking now to those who have gluten intolerance and celiac disease (disease; approx.). I say this to everyone because everyone is exposed to the protein gliadin, which is an opiate. It binds to the opiate receptors in your brain and stimulates your appetite.

Asked if agricultural production could return to grain that was previously produced, Davis said that it is possible, but that it is not economically feasible, since that wheat yields less from the same area. However, according to Davis, the movement to move away from eating wheat began, after which people significantly lost weight.

“If three people lost a couple of pounds, that's great,” he says. “But we see how hundreds of thousands of people are losing 15, 40, 70 kilograms. Diabetics cease to be; arthritis patients experience dramatic relief. People get better leg tumors, acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, depression and so on."

To avoid these wheat-containing foods, Davis advises eating "real food" - avocados, olives, olive oil, meat, vegetables. “But not grain. When I say grain, I mean wheat, because over 90 percent of all grain is wheat, and not, say, barley or flax."

Dr. Davis says that all alternatives to replacing ground grain foods with whole grains that are supposedly good for health are like replacing non-filter cigarettes with filter cigarettes, and the belief that it is good for health. This is the eating logic that is inherently flawed. What if you raise the stakes a little and say, let's eliminate all the grain, what happens then?

And then we will see not just an improvement in health, but a transformation of healthcare.
