The remains of this herbivorous giant were found in the territory of modern Angola in 2005. A team of paleontologists from Angola and Portugal spent five years excavating and then carefully examining the few bones of Angolatitan Adamastor. In their opinion, the fossil Angolan giant, which was attributed to the group of sauropods, is a species that was not previously known to science.
Scientists believe that this lizard lived on the African continent about 90 million years ago. His remains, as well as fish bones and teeth of a prehistoric shark, were found in an area that was covered with water at that time. According to the researchers, the dinosaur somehow fell into the sea (possibly washed away by the tide or tsunami), where it was torn apart by sea predators.
