When all devilry begins to happen in society - gratuitous murders, mysterious thefts, etc., then all this begins to be blamed on otherworldly forces.

Each country has its own forces. In South Africa, for example, the tocoloshe is the main culprit of all kinds of disgrace.

With a hole in your skull

Any representative of the Zulu people living in the province of Natal (South Africa), where, judging by rumors and articles in local newspapers, the tokolosha is especially active, will tell you in detail about this monster. Interestingly, for ordinary people the tokoloshe remains invisible, only those whose mind the creature has subordinated to its will can see it.

So, according to the numerous testimonies of precisely those who once at least once fell under the influence of a tokoloshe, the monster looks like this: the size of a small monkey, the arms are long, the body is shriveled up, covered with thick black hair, the gait is fidgety, the muzzle is disgusting. This creature has no eyes or tongue, and there is a hole in the skull, as if someone had broken the monster's head with a crowbar.

Sorcerer's mistake

According to legend, the tokoloshe does not belong to the world of the living. He is called from the underworld by sorcerers and shamans and sent to their offenders. But here's the problem: any more or less prepared sorcerer can summon a tocoloshe from the dark depths, but not everyone knows how to drive him back.

In addition, these creatures with each appearance in the world of the living are becoming more intelligent and developed and are already independently finding ways to cross the border between reality and otherworldly territories. They say that at some point the tokoloshe stopped obeying the sorcerers altogether and perpetrated various dirty tricks in their own way.

After a couple of cases when the summoned monsters caused more trouble than good, African shamans decided not to use the services of these afterlife creatures anymore, but it was too late - they learned themselves, without the help of sorcerers, to penetrate our world and commit crimes. And in the ability to do all sorts of nasty things and commit atrocities tocoloshe in the world has no equal.

This creature spoils property, cripples anyone who gets in its way, and the worst thing is that it has an insatiable sexual appetite and, with sadistic pleasure, rapes both women and men.

Bed with high legs

The tokoloshe's favorite pastime is to crawl out from under the bed at night and take possession of the person sleeping on it. For women, this usually ends in celibacy or divorce, since after a night of "love" with a tokolosha they lose all interest in men. For men, the violence perpetrated against them by the tokolosh also ends in tears.

Having enjoyed unnatural love, for the sake of boredom, the monster can subdue the victim for a while and force her to commit all sorts of crimes - kill, rob, set fire to houses, injure his loved ones and just strangers.

Very often, an exemplary father and family man who lived quietly for himself suddenly disappears from home and begins to rush around the country, leaving a bloody trail behind him. Sooner or later he is found, usually dead, somewhere in the forest or savannah. And then no one doubts that the tokolosha is to blame for everything.

By the way, it is precisely because of the fear of rape by an otherworldly monster that in almost all African houses the beds are on very high legs, and sometimes bricks are even placed under them. All this is done so that the monster, which, as already mentioned, is not very tall, would not be able to climb onto the bed and take possession of its victim. They say it helps.

Hunt for killer lions

The evil tocoloss can not only take possession of the human mind, but also inhabit the bodies of animals. He prefers large predators like a lion or a tiger. In 1898, when a railway was being built in Kenya, a couple of strange lions appeared at the place of work from nowhere. They were unusually intelligent, easily bypassed all traps and ambushes, possessed extraordinary strength, greed and inexplicable cruelty.

These lions killed and ate one and a half hundred people, until the combined efforts of a whole army of hunters managed to exterminate them, which took almost a year. When examining the trophies, the hunters found a very strange thing: both lions did not have manes, but at the same time turned out to be males (females usually lack manes). In addition, the predators were incredible in size - the length of the body of each from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail was more than three meters.

Local residents assured the newcomer contractors that it was all the fault of the tocoloids who had taken over the animals. The white leaders doubted for a long time, but gradually some of them, especially those who hunted lions themselves and knew the habits of these predators well, believed that the matter was unclean.

One of the participants in the hunt for the afterlife that had taken over the animals, John Henry Patterson, who, incidentally, was able to shoot one of the lions, later wrote the book "The Cannibals of Tsavo", where he described in detail all the events of that bloody year. Based on the book, the film “Ghost and Darkness” was even filmed in Hollywood, although no Tokoloshi is mentioned in it.
