Research data from YouGov polling service shows that even among British believers, many tend to believe in spirits more than in God, and those who call themselves Christians believe more in aliens than in the devil.

The report emphasizes the fact that the word “Christian” in light of these discoveries should be understood to mean “cultural belonging rather than deep faith and habit of attending church services. Surveys over the past year have shown that only 55% of Britons who call themselves Christians believe in the Savior.

This year's study revealed an even sadder picture, as a careful analysis of the beliefs of some 12,000 Britons who call themselves Christians (out of a total sample of 39,000 representing the entire population of the country) showed that today only 41% of those who identify themselves as Christians believe in a Creator, and 18 % of British "Christians" do not believe in God at all, "Weekly" reports.

Most of all "Christians" believe in fate or predestination (46%), which cannot really be considered one of the Christian doctrines; they are followed by those who believe in heaven (44%), as a postulate of faith; and only 36% believe in the immortality of the soul. The analysis also shows that people "are more inclined to believe in the simple and good postulates of Christianity and reject those that are difficult to understand and assimilate."

In addition, it turned out that only 27% of Britons who called themselves Christians believe in the existence of hell, and they are more inclined to believe in the existence of angels (35%); and only 24% believe in the devil. But the most stunning result of the poll is that the British in general believe much more in ghosts and in karma than in the Creator and in the existence of paradise.
