Of course, the explosion of the Yellowstone supervolcano will primarily affect North America, which may simply be wiped off the face of the Earth. However, according to scientists, the consequences of such an eruption could be much more serious, affecting the existence of our planet as a whole.

For example, according to the most pessimistic scenario, the explosion of Yellowstone will lead to a global reduction in food and, most importantly, drinking water on Earth, which can be enough for the current number of earthlings for 2-3 months. And then … the struggle for survival. Therefore, it is not yet a fact that it is better: it is easy to die immediately from fire and ash, or then suffering for a long time - from hunger and thirst.

NASA offered its own solution to this global problem: to cool the supervolcano with water. Today, more than 70 percent of the volcano's heat escapes into the atmosphere, while Yellowstone's energy can be fully exploited by constantly cooling it and thereby keeping the oxygen-to-methane ratio at a level that will ensure that it will not explode.

To do this, NASA scientists believe that water needs to be pumped into the magma chamber, approximately ten kilometers deep. "Pleasure" is, of course, very expensive; by the most conservative estimate, the initial investment will cost the United States nearly four billion dollars, not to mention "unforeseen expenses." However, in the future, this project may pay off handsomely, since water heated to 350 degrees Celsius can be used in a geothermal power plant. Thus, the Yellowstone volcano will, on the one hand, continue to "sleep", and on the other, produce super-cheap electricity.

At the moment, the NASA proposal is being discussed by the United States government, and scientists are already preparing detailed drawings, calculations and calculations.
