Treasure Tower, Teide bruise, Tahinaste Tenerike - all these names are used to refer to a herbaceous plant from the genus Echiaceae - Echium wildrettii, which produces a tall picturesque cone of inflorescences.
Echium wildprettii is notable for being a very narrow endemic. The Teide bruise grows freely only on one island of the Canary Islands - Tenerife. But even there he prefers only the slopes of the Teide volcano, their subalpine zone. In this zone, the climate is rather harsh, and the vegetation is not rich. Among the low grasses, there are no competitors for a bright red jewelry tower up to 3 meters high.
On the slopes of its native volcano, the Teide bruise bears all the hardships: severe drought and sudden frosts down to -5 C. The only thing it needs is a lot of bright sunlight.
But in other places, the plant takes root not so easily. It does not like a lack of light, it does not tolerate a low temperature background, and frosts are stronger than 5 degrees and are completely dangerous for a bruise.
The Teide bruise blooms from the second year, in the first year it produces only a thick lush rosette of silvery-gray leaves, also very decorative.

Tourists admire the bruise, bees, butterflies and birds flock to it. Its countless flowers are wonderful honey plants.
Fading away, the plant dies. But the seeds are scattered around, and echium wildprettii is easily reproduced in the next season.
