Vitaly Stepants inherited from his grandmother an old house with a bad reputation. It was rumored in the village that he did not bring happiness to any of the residents: the first owners hastily sold him and left, the second did not have a personal life. The non-superstitious Vitaly became the fourth owner and did not particularly delve into these stories.
Two weeks ago, he decided to renovate the porch: wild grapes destroyed the steps with roots. “I decided to rip it out. He pulled on the trunk, and from under the porch bones would fall! - he says. - I counted only seven skulls. The most interesting thing is that the steps cracked exactly over the place where the ashes rested. First of all, I called my mother, she is the only one in the family who believes in all this mysticism. Was there a treasure?
What happened almost two and a half thousand years ago with these people, perhaps, no one will ever know. Vitaly has two versions on this score: either it was an execution - the bodies were thrown very carelessly into one pit, or - which is more likely - the ashes of this seven have already been disturbed in the last century. Perhaps the ancient burial was opened in the 1920s during the construction of the house. “Judging by the way the bones were lying, they were not buried like that,” says Vitaly. - When they were building the house, I think they found these skeletons, and with them some valuable things. But they didn’t throw the bones away so that no one would have any unnecessary questions.”
One way or another, the question arose before Vitaly: where to define this terrible "treasure"? Nina Nikolaevna brought a priest. He consecrated the house, but dissuaded from carrying the remains to the cemetery, as the family planned. They say that they were already buried according to their customs, and it is impossible to bury them as Orthodox Christians.
The news of the find spread throughout the village. High school students at the local school promised to put together a wooden box so that the remains could be buried in it. Nina Nikolaevna is waiting for this event most of all. She believes that along with these ashes all troubles will go away from the life of the family.
