Scientists have implemented and researched a new way of teaching. Research has shown that it leads to improved assimilation of information. Arizona State University has released new research on the flagship smart course.

It is published in the journal Astrobiology. The created HabWorlds feature interactive simulations and virtual journeys to explore astronomy, biology, chemistry, geology and physics. This allows students who are exploring life outside of the Earth to receive information in a slightly different way than the classical one.

The online course was created with support from NASA and the National Science Foundation. Since 2011, it has been studied by more than five thousand students at the University of Arizona, and teachers from forty other institutions around the world have familiarized themselves with it.

The published study describes the digital design philosophy that was used to design and deliver the course. According to the creators, they wanted to bring to life a new way of teaching science, the goal was to create an interactive, fun, playful science course.

Also through the use of the Smart Sparrow learning platform, educators can access learner analytics throughout the learning experience. This allows you to identify problem areas and make adjustments. The development features of HabWorlds and the ability to use the analytics of the Smart Sparrow course allow you to accurately measure their understanding and effectiveness of the content, the scientists note.
