Scientists in Primorye have created chocolate with the addition of substances isolated from sea stars, sea urchins and lemongrass, which slow down aging and improve metabolism, the press service of the Pacific Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry FEB RAS reports.

"We called these substances" sea vitamins ". Such a complex of "sea vitamins" slows down the aging process and has a corrective effect on metabolic processes, which improves the quality of life and promotes longevity, "the message says.

The structure and medico-biological properties of natural marine compounds have been studied at the institute for over 40 years. On their basis, a number of drugs and biologically active additives have been created and successfully introduced into practical medicine.

Earlier, scientists from the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) at the All-Russian Science Festival in Moscow in the fall of 2015 presented food products made using the original technology from the algae of the Far Eastern seas. Scientists at the FEFU School of Biomedicine have developed kelp salads, baked goods and sausages with the addition of brown algae and a new technology for producing agar from red perennial algae Anfeltia.
