The idea of creating microbots that would "live" in the human body and monitor health status seems less and less fantastic every year. After all, there are a lot of ready-made prototypes, some of which have even successfully passed the stage of clinical trials. And, according to the editors of New Scientist magazine, a group of scientists from the United States, China and Israel recently presented a video of a microbot that can be introduced into the human body.
The miniature "doctor" consists of three gold pieces, each five micrometers long. All parts are connected with silver loops. It should be said that the demonstrated robot is only a test sample, on the basis of which it is planned to create microbots for targeted (that is, directly to the “sore spot”) drug delivery in the future.
The robot is already capable of speeds up to 5.5 micrometers per second. The movement of the microbot is controlled by a magnetic field. Now the robot is covered with inert materials, but the next versions of the device should be biodegradable. According to the developers, the first versions of robots for medical institutions should appear within the next five years, and they will be designed to deliver drugs through the urinary tract.
