Political support

Ideally, church and state should be separate. On paper this is true, but in practice, religion often influences political decisions. And most often this influential religion is Christianity. The religious values of politicians have an impact on the daily life of society, from bans on certain films, books and movements, to blocking Internet sites. A society that consists not only of Christians, but also of Muslims, Buddhists, agnostics and atheists, who do not have the advantage of political representation.

Legislative advantage

Not only political decisions, but also legislative initiatives are based on the religious values of the deputies, most of whom in the Western world are representatives of Christianity. And if grandiose legislative initiatives like the prohibition of abortion in America and the promotion of the rights of sexual minorities in Russia can cause discontent and protests, more subtle amendments and laws are left without due attention.

These amendments can affect what subjects are taught in school (creationism, religious education), what programs are shown on television, and what social projects are funded. Many of these initiatives do not take into account the fact that not all members of society are Christian.

Widespread Christianity

Imagine that you are the only Christian in the workplace where everyone is, say, Buddhists, wanting to know everything about your religion. On your shoulders lies the responsibility for the entire Christian denomination and how others will perceive it. This is how rare representatives of religious minorities feel - as if they are responsible for how their faith will be perceived in the eyes of Christians.

Religious ignorance

Christians can afford to know nothing about other religions, at the same time as culture teaches them from childhood the values of Christianity. Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims living in a Christian society cannot afford such a luxury. Not only are they obliged to regularly face Christian propaganda, they are often deprived of the opportunity to openly study their religion from childhood.

Unobstructed and open worship

No one will stop a Christian from professing his faith in the church. On the contrary, churches are protected by law and church building initiatives are supported and subsidized by the state. The same cannot be said for mosques, Buddhist temples and other holy places for members of religious minorities. In small towns, they have to pray and practice the ordinances of their faith in homes or rented premises, and the construction of temples meets with political and civil opposition.

Crimes don't become a symbol of faith

In the modern information space, the actions of one criminal associated with terrorist organizations are becoming a reflection of all Islam in the eyes of Western society. However, no one accuses Christianity in general of the actions of criminals professing this faith. Christians are not surrounded by a host of prejudices about violence and fundamentalism, even though some of the worst crimes in history have been committed in the name of the Bible.
