Among the declassified CIA files is a 1943 report written for then US President Franklin D. Roosevelt. According to the report, Hitler was "both homosexual and heterosexual." The 70-page report also claims that the Fuehrer was "sexually attracted" to his deputy, Rudolf Hess.
The report for the White House was written by anthropologist Henry Field. The "biographical sketch" began with information about Hitler's childhood, education, and ended with his diet, favorite music, speech technique.
Hitler lived in a men's hostel on the Meldemannstrasse in Brigittenau, Vienna from 1910 to 1913. In the documents of the Office of Strategic Services (on the basis of this service, the CIA was created after World War II), it is argued that the hostel had a reputation as a place where men looked for a partner for homosexual pleasures. At the time Hitler was in his early 20s, he was desperately trying to succeed as an artist. Having inherited his father's inheritance, Hitler moved to Germany.
Ernst Hanfstaengl, a close friend of Hitler in the 1920s, provided information on the sexual orientation of the German Reich Chancellor. Falling out of favor with the Fuhrer and the Nazi leadership, Ernst fled to the United States and began working for intelligence. Hanfstaengl and reported Hitler's sexual attraction to his deputy Rudolf Hess. In homosexual circles, Hess was called "Fraulein Anna", he loved to dress in women's dresses.
Concluding the chapter on Hitler's sexual orientation, Field writes: “His sex life is as ambivalent as his political outlook. He is both homosexual and heterosexual, both a socialist and a violent nationalist, both male and female."
