On the night of July 15-16, residents of some towns and cities of Vitebsk region claim that they saw a strange object in the sky. Numerous eyewitnesses claim that a bright ball flew across the sky and fell to the ground with a deafening sound.
- In the evening, at 12 o'clock, there was a crash, the windows rang, trembled … And a bright flash of light immediately … I thought, maybe the car crashed into a tree. He looked - quietly, there is no one. The next day, a friend on the phone said that his sister was walking down the street in the evening and saw something like a flying comet with a tail,”a resident of the village of Volodkovo (Glubokoye district) told Vestkam.
An engineer from the village of Mnyuta, Vyacheslav Rudak, suggested that a flying glowing ball exploded somewhere near their village. True, Vyacheslav himself did not see the object, but only heard a loud sound. From the words of fellow villagers, he realized that it would be an object like a ball. Then the light disappeared and after about five minutes there was an explosion, so strong that "the hut crackled, and even the door in the kitchen opened."
A bright flash of light that night was observed in some villages of the Glubokoe and Sharkovshchinsky regions, Polotsk, Vileika and even 15 km from the capital and in the capital itself (Brilevichi microdistrict). Almost all eyewitnesses call the approximate time - 00.00-00-30 - and describe the UFO as "a luminous ball with a tail." Here is what witnesses write in the comments:
- I saw a similar object on July 15 at 22:30 at a dacha 15 km from Minsk. At first I thought it was a signal rocket, since he was not flying fast (comets are unlikely to fly so slowly). But visually, the size seemed much larger than the signal flare. It was a silently flying ball. In addition, there was an orange-yellow halo around it, as if the ball was burning in the upper atmosphere. A minute or two later, the ball quietly disappeared over the horizon …
- I saw this phenomenon in Minsk at about 12 at night. It was as if a huge star swept across the sky and went out as it descended to earth. Indeed, it looked like a signal flare, but it flew straight down, so the rockets do not fly.
- That night my friends and I got out for a walk from the village of Plisa. We moved along the Glubokoe-Polotsk highway. Suddenly, everything around was lit up with a bright light, at first it seemed to us that it was the light of car headlights, but then we noticed a fireball that flew approximately towards the Kuzhelnik forest and, before reaching the horizon, disappeared from the field of view (probably, it just stopped glowing). It looked a lot like a flare. A few minutes later we heard a tremendous roar, like thunder. Apparently it was a meteor.
- My parents told me about this case - they even asked me to go online to find out the details. According to my mother, at around 01.00 am (on the night of 07.16) she suddenly heard a strong roar - such that the parents' house shook (a one-story brick house in the area of a feed mill). Her roommate heard the rumble too. As the parents were told, the blow was in the area of Lake Checheli - about 5-7 km from the house. Several people also talked about thunder and speculation that it was a meteorite. Other details are still unknown.
