The French scientist Jacques Vallee, known as an astronomer, astrophysicist, mathematician and programmer, has also been engaged in ufological research since almost the middle of the last century. Since the late sixties, he has become an ardent opponent of the alien origin of UFOs.
UFO phenomenon - not terrestrial
By the nineties, he formulated five main arguments, which, on the one hand, prove that UFOs were not created by our earthly civilization, and on the other hand, they show that they cannot be only alien ships:
- firstly, there are too many UFOs, such a huge number of them now observed throughout the Earth is simply not needed for a comprehensive study of our physical world;
- secondly, the aliens are too humanoid in their appearance - for space travel, as we already know from our own experience, this is not the best option, which has a minimum chance of breaking away from their home planet and going to another;
- thirdly, aliens behave in such a way that the theory about their genetic or any other scientific research on humans does not stand up to criticism;
- fourthly, UFOs, judging by historical chronicles and other facts, have existed on Earth from time immemorial, so this is not a phenomenon of our time;

- and finally, they easily manipulate space and time, which allows doubting their only alien origin.
Jacques Vallee himself adheres, as he said in an interview with the American journalist Jeffrey Mishlov, to the point of view that UFOs are a much more complex and at the same time interesting phenomenon than just alien ships that, for some unknown reason, flew to our Earth. It is rather a phenomenon that pushes us to study space and time, to understand that our physical world is only a small layer of reality, and therefore our laws are powerless to understand UFOs.
The diversity of the UFO phenomenon
Today, continues Jacques Vallee, we know much more about UFOs than, say, even ten years ago, let alone the last century. Therefore, every ufologist in our time should understand that UFOs must be considered in a complex, that is, clearly delineating the levels of this phenomenon:
- the first level can be called physical, when we perceive these mysterious objects as something physical, possessing huge reserves of energy in a relatively small space;
- the second level - contact, when a person observing a UFO experiences physiological and psychological correlations, for example, loses a sense of space and time. At the same time, it seems to some people that they begin to move in the wrong direction, others, in a few minutes lived through, lose hours, or even a day of time, witnesses can instantly move long distances, change, that is, acquire superpowers or, conversely, lose memory. and so on;
- the third level is conventionally called social, when people perceive UFOs, according to their beliefs, knowledge, religious beliefs, educational level, curiosity of the mind or the presence of skepticism in it, and therefore it does not even matter whether UFOs are real or not. Much more important is how we treat them, and what role they play in our lives.
Based on this, the most interesting question arises, says Jacques Vallee, can the UFO phenomenon be just a manipulation of our consciousness, say, for the purpose of certain training or, conversely, zombie? Moreover, in our time, this can be done not only by aliens and aliens, but also by earthlings themselves, who have the necessary technologies for this. For example, even in the last century, during the Watergate scandal, the White House was preparing a plan to create a hologram of the "Second Coming of Christ" over the island of Cuba, which would entail confusion in the ranks of the Communists and their adherents, reset the means of communication and allow the American military to invade …
Having personally investigated several contacts with UFOs, the scientist continues, I came to the conclusion that these were just cases of manipulation of human consciousness, and it is becoming easier and easier to create this in our time.
Therefore, much more interesting is the evidence of contacts with UFOs from antiquity, when mankind did not yet possess high technologies, as it is now. But even at that time "airships" and "flying saucers" were observed. And all this was attributed to the gods and, ultimately, became folklore. Therefore, all the myths, legends, legends of various peoples of our planet, most likely, are also directly related to the phenomenon of unidentified flying, floating, diving, instantly appearing and also disappearing objects (monsters, angels, demons and other celestials) - to the UFO phenomenon.
Therefore, summarizes Jacques Vallee, with UFOs, not everything is as simple as it initially seemed to ufologists (and even today many of them, especially beginners, are in a similar delusion). And, of course, it is impossible to explain the numerous and diverse manifestations of this phenomenon with an alien hypothesis alone …
