Recently, quite serious scientists have taken a great interest in aliens. Are they interested in whether people believe in them or not? Aren't they afraid? What will they do when they meet? Polls are conducted over and over again. Their purpose is not clear - maybe they are preparing for the visit? But the results are interesting.
Recently, astronomy professor David Weintraub of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee interviewed people of different religious beliefs while writing his book, Religions and Extraterrestrial Life.
And he collected statistics, which convincingly testified: atheists most of all believe aliens. There are 55 percent of them.
Muslims who believe that we are not alone in the Universe, on average, 44 percent, Jews - 37 percent, Hindus - 36 percent. The most unbelievers in this sense are among the representatives of the main confessions - Christians: only 32 percent think that there are brothers in mind. At the same time, the share of Orthodox believers in aliens is 41 percent, Baptists - 29 percent.
Belief in brothers in mind is also a kind of religion.

Ted Peters, a professor of theology from the USA (Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, California), also conducted his research. The Buddhists were the most tolerant. Most stated that aliens would not in any way affect their faith. But at the same time, more than 40 percent expressed confidence that the indisputable fact of the existence of brothers in mind would create problems for other religions.
Roughly 8 percent of Catholics saw aliens as a threat to their personal religious beliefs. And they said they would be very shaken. 22 percent fear for the state of their religion in general. And more than 30 percent believe that the threat is hanging over representatives of other confessions.
The fears of other Christian communities (such as evangelicals and Protestants) are distributed in about the same proportion.
The previous Pope somehow expressed himself in the sense that God was free to create life tma wherever he pleases. And not only on Earth.
The professor could not find out how Muslims, Hindus and Jews would behave - the scientist did not have enough data for generalizing conclusions.
And only one percent of the atheists surveyed believe that aliens will somehow change their perception of the world around them. And the majority - 69 percent - do not doubt that the world's religions are facing a crisis.
