Experts very often find on the Red Planet irrefutable evidence that a long time ago there were huge reservoirs on it, in which primitive microorganisms could theoretically live. But at one far from perfect moment, the idyll was broken by a giant asteroid that fell to Mars.

Russian researchers believe that it was he who caused the loss of most of the water necessary for the birth of living creatures - they were pushed to this conclusion by the results of the latest observations of the celestial body. A neutron spectrometer aboard the Curiosity rover showed that almost the entire surface of ancient Mars was covered with liquid. Now only 5-7 percent of the water remains from the original volume.

The figures obtained after studying the surface of the planet demonstrate a high probability of the origin of life, which, alas, was prevented by unforeseen circumstances in the form of a large asteroid. During the collision, the water splashed into space and dissolved in it. As a result, the ideal conditions for the emergence of life evaporated, and the planet turned into a completely uninhabited, cold and cruel desert. But if the remaining water is found suitable for drinking, then the future colonizers of the Red Planet will not have to deliver it from Earth.
