He stood alone in the cockpit, leading the empty train from Mundybash to the Kondoma station. Here, in the Tashtagol region, behind Chugunash, the "piece of iron" made a loop, smoothly climbing up the mountain. The January night taiga was sleeping. Frost for 20. Quiet, starry, clear, from the window, under the moon, everything is in full view. How many times has he passed here, first as an assistant driver, and for many years as a driver. The last old dachas are behind, they did not live there in winters. Nobody built new ones …
Alexander Shavrov used this route to lead the train back and forth every shift. And he knew everything and everyone by the road. That is why I was amazed at some new source of light.
“From here I saw that lantern for the first time,” stopping at the 555 km post, Shavrov tells me about a strange fact, which he witnessed at the end of January 2008, at about 4.20 am Kuzbass time. We came here on the sleepers. The asphalt, the extreme roof, the extreme mowing, a piece of fir, finally, the very last dacha behind the noticeable dark green "cage" - everything is long behind. We are alone - for many kilometers. Only clouds above us rumble on a mountain rise, but they do not pour. The overheated spicy taiga plays with green colors and is full of flowers along the rails.
- Now, too, the train will pass. He is at the 558th kilometer, - he hears the inaudible Shavrov, for five years as a pensioner, and before that - a machinist with 34 years of experience. - There the speed is 50, and as soon as it comes out of the turn towards us, it will start to pick up.

The freight train rumbled. Taiga, mountains again - in silence … It is this section of the path - from 555th to 558th kilometers - that is associated with UFOs. Remembering the details, Shavrov tells further how he saw a strange "headlight" in 2008 and what happened next.
- As soon as we began to enter the loop of climbing the mountain on the way, my assistant, also Sanya, went to the rear cabin of the locomotive. There is a lot of equipment, inspections were laid across the track so that the engine room would not catch fire … I was left alone, led the train and … Ahead is a mountain, along which we will soon turn. And if you draw a perpendicular from the top of it down, then in the lower third I suddenly saw a light. There is still an aspen forest on a hillock in front of the mountain - and some kind of lantern is shining over it.
The lamp is round, with a diameter of a TV set, 50-60 centimeters. The light was dim, with yellow, warm, that's why it struck. The middle is brighter, along the edge - reflections.
The lantern shone not on the ground, but in the sky - 15-20 meters from the treetops. I saw him at first from 500 meters, and when the hillocks did not hide him, as the train approached the turn, I saw, in general, about three minutes. The closest one, having approached, I saw a lantern from two hundred meters.
I drove up. The lantern is still in place. And then a chick - and he went to the right and down, about eight meters. It seemed to me that it even swayed. And he hung in a new place for three seconds. And again he changed position - he went left and down 10-15 meters. And there is a hillock. The lantern went for him in the end … I took the train further.
- Aliens, noticing that their headlight was noticed from the train, hysteria?
- That someone else is next to them, and travels close, right? - laughs Shavrov. - Maybe so … And my that shift at eight in the morning ended. I managed to make another flight, but not there. And later, no matter how many times I drove through marks 555-558, or that lantern, I never saw anything unusual. And from others - I have not heard.

Over the past twelve years, the driver went through many options for what kind of lantern it was.
- The silhouette of the structure, of which the lantern was a part, I did not see in the dark. I didn't hear a sound. And the first earthly explanation that immediately occurred to me then was that the lantern was the headlight of the tractor. Or a fire in the winter taiga, - an eyewitness admits. - But it was not a tractor, it will not go there through the taiga, there is no road, and it is winter, two meters of snow … for any earthly machine. And also … There is a power line nearby, with the Sayano-Shushenskaya current …
- And could a tractor go through a power line, with a headlamp on?
- Not. And further. I asked a relative who had worked on power grids all his life, is it possible for energy to leak from a power transmission line like this, in the form of a ball, and so that due to a contact violation such sparking would be? He replied that he had not heard. And any kind of sparking is always bright, blue-white, cold, and the lantern shone dim, yellow, warm, even. And the electric glow should go out, and the lantern - as it was, it hid behind the hillock with me, and hid it … For the same reason and also - because winter - I dismissed the version about ball lightning.
Shavrov even recalled that once upon a time there was still a narrow-gauge railway in those parts.
- So, maybe there was a time mirage, and you saw a train from the past, its headlight?
- But the headlight was moving high in the air! - Alexander rejected both earthly reality and earthly fantasy, pondering more and more about the unearthly - already under the roar of a completely darkened cloud that turned us back. - And all the same I do not know what I met. What technique is ABOVE the ground ?! I could see one design headlamp, which was WEIGHTED!
… It is curious, but for several years in the north of Kuzbass, in Tisul, eyewitnesses told about UFO flights at the very beginning of the 2000s, then in 2012, in 2014, in 2019. They described most often triangular UFOs. But the type of "plates" was also mentioned.
And one of the Tisul eyewitnesses Igor Kolmykov recalled the UFO he saw in 2007, starting the story exactly the same way as Alexander Shavrov from Tashtagol - about the UFO in 2008! Coincidence? Yes maybe. Or maybe they saw the same "plate" ?!
- In the winter of 2007, at about half past nine in the evening, I left the house with buckets to take out the ashes, - Igor said. - I didn't have a tank near my house yet, and I dragged the ash to the river. I went down, poured it out, I looked - some light went along the river … The beam beat like a headlight, like a big lantern, not thin - wide … I thought: this is a tractor driving along the river, its headlights shine. More precisely, the headlight shone alone. And at the same time not a sound … And the "tractor" was gradually approaching and … it became higher and higher - it rose into the air … With fright, I ran upward from the river, to the street, to the houses. I saw a woman walking down the street, threw her bags, stood, looked. And this "thing" passed over our heads. The size of a large house. She - like a disk, like a "tablet", itself did not spin, but the middle spun. Matte light was coming from the UFO … The "Dish" went up and disappeared. The frost was -25, and the UFO hovered, and the "plate",rising slowly at first, it was clearly visible. I examined it from 15 meters!
By the way, Vadim Chernobrov, one of the founders of the Russian scientific research association "Cosmopoisk", was in Tisul on one of the other signals from a UFO. And he did not dismiss that signal as false (and usually, he explained to Kuzbass in 2014, 90% of messages go to marriage). At the same time, Chernobrov named the figure: "Kosmopoisk" already confirms the reality of up to 150-200 cases of UFO encounters in Russia a year.
“We study them,” he explained, “in order to understand whether the meetings are accidental or are fragments of some large mosaic.
