Sopka of Love
Probably, there is no such Ussurian who is not familiar with the seemingly strange phrase "hill of love". Let's explain to those in the tank. The Hill of Love is a place that lovers of carnal pleasures have chosen. Those unfortunate people who have something, have someone, but nowhere. Here is a string of pilgrims, slaves of the goddess Venus. The question arises: why exactly here? What makes the slaves of love ignore both the arduous ascent to the hill and any shame?
Kozma Prutkov used to say: "Look at the root." In our case, this saying is very useful. Because the solution to this mystery lies at the root, or rather, in the depths of this hill.
The historical name of this place is Ilyushina Sopka. In the past, this hill was of considerable industrial importance. In the 19th century, coal deposits were discovered in its bowels. Soon, quarries were set up here, which were used so zealously that already in 1911 they looked rather depressing. At this rate, in the near future, the hill risked turning into a plain. This was explained not only by the good quality of the coal.
The fact is that in the Jurchen era there was a small settlement here. Historians suggest that it was located around the temple of the Goddess of Fertility. The annals of history indicate that the Jurchens worshiped a golden statue of the goddess, which is also called the "golden woman". This statue possessed supernatural power: it could fill hearts with love, endow men with power in their loins, and endow women with incredible desire.
The legend about this "woman" is on the lips of home-grown archaeologists who have searched the entire Primorsky Territory in search of this rarity. And all because during the numerous wars, the statue of the Jurchen goddess disappeared without a trace. There are several versions of the current location of this rarity. According to one of them, the "woman" was hidden in the secret vaults of the temple, which was covered with earth and stones.

Henina Sopka
Another hill was included in our rating of mysterious places in Ussuriisk. We are talking about Khenina Sopka. There are two legends about the name of the hill. One is romantic. It says that the girl Fenya committed suicide here from unrequited love. Another political one. During the Manzur War in 1868, the Chinese advanced. The girl Fenya decided to warn about the offensive and ran from this hill. Where she was caught by the bandits. However, there is no real confirmation of these versions.
It is assumed that since the peasants were immigrants from Ukraine, the name Fenya sounds like Khvenya and the letter "B", apparently, simply disappeared. So Fenya became Henya.
Scientists say: if you dig deeper, you can find the dwellings of a stone man on the slopes of the Henina hill. And modern settlers settled here in the 50s.
But the hill is not famous for this yet. About 40 years ago, one of the local kids fell into the ground. At least that's what the child, terrified of what had happened to him, claimed. In his words, he ended up not just in a deep pit, in which catacombs - corridors lined with stone. The schoolboy did not walk on them, because noticed the corpses of cats and dogs, which, apparently, having fallen into the trap, could not get out.
The child was saved by adults who were called by other children. After that, the place was filled up and tamped "away from trouble." For several more years, the desperate tried to find the catacombs, but could not do it.
Junkyard mutants
The dump is located in the Voskhod area. There used to be a huge pit here. Over time, it filled with tons of garbage and turned into a muddy plain. It is not difficult to imagine what a landfill looks like.
But there is one rumor among the residents. As if strange creatures live in a big dump. Eyewitnesses claim that these are people who look very much like animals. These creatures move very quickly, most often on four limbs. The look is frightening: disheveled hair, an animal grin, the body is covered with tufts of hair and a dirty scab. Locals call them nothing more than mutants.
Previously, the Yeti did not leave the landfill. But lately they are often met in the courtyards. Now the inhabitants of the Voskhod district ascribe everything to the mutants, whatever they hit: the loss of chickens, the destruction of the stash of moonshine, indecent words that from time to time appear on the fences …
Black Cossack
Pivzavodskie dachas are not only cucumbers, potatoes and other gooseberries. An urban legend is also associated with this fruitful place. As if on quiet summer nights they see a huge horseman here. It looks like an ordinary Cossack in the appropriate ammunition and with a sword at the ready. One "but" - peering into his face, you can see not a nose-mouth, but a human grin eaten away by decay.
It all began with a blood-curdling story that happened at the brewery dachas about 30 years ago. In that troubled time, when the ruble exchange rate was falling, and prices were skyrocketing, homeless people and other marginal people got into the habit of brawling at their dachas. Therefore, the owners of the dachas decided to take an extreme measure - to hire a Cossack guard.
At first everything went smoothly - the raids on the dachas stopped, life improved. Until a terrible atrocity happened here. One August morning, summer residents who came to work found the body of a security guard torn apart on the road.
Since then, the Black Cossack began to appear at the brewery dachas. According to the stories, the ghost behaves quietly, seeing the involuntary witnesses of his death guard, disappears without a trace in the darkness …
Bank ghost
According to rumors, in one of the banks in the city (it will not open it so as not to scare potential clients of the institution) terrible ghosts are raging. With the onset of night, real atrocities begin here. Blood-chilling groans and heartbreaking screams come from the depths of the vaults. Japanese speech, biting blows and wild screams are clearly audible.
One of the former guards said that when he walked to the screams coming from outside the door of one of the offices, a glaring picture was presented to him. The safe door was wide open, the floor was covered with a heap of securities, and an elderly Japanese man in military uniform sat at the table and smoked a stinking cigar. Seeing the numb guard, the troublemaker spat savoryly, swore dirty in broken Russian and disappeared into thin air …
